I guess I never really thought about it. When I was in retail, we called plus "womens" sizes....not sure what that even means!

I am at the upper end of plus, although I am going down (30 lbs so far!) and I don't really care about the name. I care about the fact that they take regular misses clothing and just add fabric to it making it look like fat person clothing. Or that all they sell once they get past size 16 in a department store is elastic waist band pants and sweat shirts with kitties on them. WTH?!?! Like cause I weigh a little more I don't want to look like I'm a 29 year old women, I would rather look 60? Or wear a tent? I still have a figure even if it is larger!!! That's why I like Lane Bryant so much. Their clothing wouldn't even look good on a slimmer person. It's for a larger person who still wants to look as attractive as they can.

Okay, rant over. None of the terminology bothers me, it's the clothing!!!

God Lord! I would have issue with that! Even if someone is "plus size" does not really mean that they are unhealthy- I know a few people that are considered plus size and they are very athletic and are a lot healthier than what I am!

Oh really? I didn't know being over weight was unhealthy!! WEll now that my CLOTHING has told me I will start losing. Good thing I found out. Kinda like when I quit smoking because the pack told me it wasn't healthy for me. I would still be smoking if I had not read my pack.

That was sarcastic by the way.

Wow. The stupid things people come up with.

That is just wrong. Some fit into the "obese" catagory because of health issues (not over-eating) and that would just make people feel even more terrible than they already do.
....and DUH we all know that its a health problem. That's just like the warning label on cleaners that says "do not drink"...Do people seriously not know these things????

Just be glad there are sizes that fit you.

I'm 6' tall with a 36 inseam and a wingspan of a person 6'4". If the dang clothes fit, I wouldn't care what they called them. Clothes for the giraffe women...

Ok there is one worse then being Plus its Being Busty. Its My own personal Gripe I wear a 38H Bra Womens stores don't even carry my bra size so womens sizes don't really fit that well they are too big in the back and the regular size is two small in the front. So there you are stuck in between womens and Misses with nothing at all fashionable fitting.

I think sizes are all screwed up and if you find something for the right price that fits then get it.

If I loose about 20lbs that well at least put me into a 16 pant which well make it easier to find them. As for my other problem I think the only way is to get a reduction surgery when I am finally done having kids.

I would rather plus size than something else

i like shopping in plus size stores, i know something in there will fit, but the womens sizing in most normal stores still isnt cut right, and a 2x isnt a 2x or a 3x isnt a 3x, which gets depressing.

I was just going to say that I've seen it called "Woman" or "Women's" more commonly lately. That gets confusing to women of all sizes - we're ALL women! I'm not sure what those sizes should be called.

When my brother was young he wore "Husky" jeans - now there's another good descriptor!

I agree!!

But what about mens BIG and TALL section?? Does that offend them?

I worked in retail too -

We had juniors Misses and womans sizes. We also had Petites,

I don't see an issue with it -

It is what it is...
