I know of a few members here that actively do this on a daily basis. I think I want to try it. It may seem impossible for me at first, but maybe with the right guidelines and suggestions I could find a way!

How often do you meditate?
Where do you do it?
How long?
What do you zero in on? How do you free your mind?
Has it helped you?

The only time I really have is those first few minutes when I wake up in the morning. It's quiet, and nobody is awake but me.

Have you read Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert? In one section she learns to meditate in an Indian Ashram. In it, she writes about how hard it is to clear her mind - and I agree, that's what I struggle with. It's a very good book - I'd highly recommend it!

I love to meditate, but it is SO hard to make time to do it with the kids home all the time. I study martial arts, so I use a lot of those techniques when I do have the opportunity to meditate. I have several CDs that I like to use. I usually only do it for 15 minutes or so. My focus is different every time - again, it relates to our martial arts study. I often relate the experience to whatever I'm working on in classes.

I'm working on saying the Rosary every day and that is a form of meditation. it ususally takes between 20 and 30 minutes. Every 10 Hail Mary's focus on some part of Jesus's life and I try to weave his teachings into my own life and difficulties. However, my mind often wanders but I think this is because I haven't been saying it for that long. However, since I started saying the Rosary,I've noticed that I've been more patient with DH and I don't worry as much. I say it first thing in the morning, usually on my couch, before the kids get up, With my Starbucks.

I think finding the time and the space is the most difficult for me. Having two very busy boys who wake up at the crack of dawn (sometimes even before me) makes it hard to find the time in the morning. Then at night, when they are in bed, I just want to collapse on the couch!!!

I do, however want to try this so I must think of a way when I can do it, with no interuptions to see if I can get the true effects of it.

Anyone else meditate?
