I am not a runner. I walk a lot, but lately have not made as much time as I should. I really want to get back to it and up my exercise at the same time.

So, my question is this: There is a 5K to raise money for a local museum on April 26th. Do you think I can go from couch to 5K, REALISTICALLY, in that period of time??? I don't want to totally kill myself!

Any suggestions? I know about the Couch to 5K website, but I want other advice, too.

If you just want to finish the race you can absolutely do it! I've known lots of people who have trained for only a month for a 5K race. You have 2 and a half months! I think you are going to do awesome! I have a race that weekend also! Main thing is to pace yourself and take a couple of rest days each week!

I have absolutely no doubt you can do it if you want to!!! I just have never figured out why anyone would want to run unless someone was chasing you with a knife

I love to run! I am one of those sickos that gets the "runner's high"! It is my stress relief!

I think you are going to enjoy the feeling of accomplishment when you finish the run!

I'm sure you could do it!

I'm a walker and I would like to start running also. Everytime I try, my ankles kill me.

I think 5K is very doable, especially for someone like you who is NOT new to exercise. I think you can totally do it Claire!

Definately. You have over 8 weeks. That is plenty of time for you to be able to run the 5K. Go for it!

You defintely have plenty of time to train for a 5K especially since you already exercise. Word of warning though, running is addictive. Once you complete that first race you will be dying to do more!!!

That's great that you want to run the 5K!! You can definitely do it I ran my first 5K last summer and crossing the finish line was the best feeling. Just start your training at a realistic pace and distance and then slowly increase what you do each week. Keep us posted!
