Okay, I've been really weak lately and lost 20 pounds since November. Keep in mind I have been eating like a cow. I'm tired all the time and suffering from insomnia. I finally caved in and let my dh run my blood work (his job) and over the course of a week we found that my TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) went from 0.08 to 0 when normal is 0.32. So I saw a doctor today and have been referred to an endocrinologist next week with the diagnose of hyperthyroidism. The doctor threw out all kinds of things ablasia of the thryroid, surgical removal of part of the thyroid, or a very remote chance of cancer. I have to have a bunch of tests on Tuesday. I am also starting betablockers tomorrow to slow my heart rate down. I have a normal resting heartrate of about 54 and it has been about 76 lately.

So, my question. Has anyone else had this problem? What should I expect?

I have not had or know anybody with hyperthyroidism, I have just the opposite. Good luck on your test and let us know how everything goes.

I know several people who have had hyperthyroidism, although I'm not sure if there's was as severe as yours sounds. They had treatment for it which then caused them to become hypo thyroid and they ended up needing to be on thyroid supplements. There's probably no way of knowing what to expect until they have a more definite diagnosis of what's causing it. Good luck to you with the tests, and let us know what they say.
