For those of us who have been at this running thing for awhile, I think we need to challenge ourselves a bit more. Skimommy has been GREAT with offering advice for the novice runner. Great running, breathing and training tips

What can those of us who have been running 5K do, to improve our performance?

Anyone have a challenge for us this week? Gerytrunner, I believe this is YOUR area of expertise!!!

Christy - what about an incline (the hill post you had made me think of it) or increasing our endurance even for an extra 'x' minutes?

Great idea.

I did do this yesterday. I had to work out from home as my son is FIGHTING THE POOP POWER and I would hate for him to lose that fight at the Y with the Y staff, so I did do this:

Walked for an hour (I was on the phone) speed varied from 3.8-4.1 on 2-6% incline
2 minutes running at 6.5 on 2 % incline, then two minutes at 6.9, then two minutes at 7.2, then two minutes on 1% at 6.9, then two minutes at 6.5....then after ten minutes, I moved my incline down to 0, and walked for 2 minutes at 4.0 - 3.2.

My legs definitely felt that burn. According to my treadmill I burned over 800 calories!
