Have you ever heard of carmine? It is a food coloring made from insects. Gross! Carmine is sourced from a mash made by grinding up beetles grown in Peru and the Canary Islands. The mash is strained out to obtain a red liquid. That liquid, made from insects, is then shipped to the United States to food companies, where it is dumped into the yogurt to make it look like there are strawberries in there. Folks, it's not strawberry. It's insect juice. That's what's in your yogurt (and a lot of candy and children's foods as well). It is also used as a food dye for juice, ice cream, yogurt, eyeshadow, and lipstick.

Here is the article How food companies fool consumers with food coloring ingredients made from petrochemicals

Yes, I've heard this before. I thought it was so disgusting! It hasn't stopped me from eating yogurt though.

It's true. Dd is allergic to this stuff it it took us a long time to figure out why she was allergic to red food coloring and not other colors. It turns out that she is allergic to the beetle juice.
