I went to the dr. today to get a cortisone shot for my carpel tunnel. Now I have gotten these shots before but it was in the back of the hand or the thumb. I was always fine. The pain was something awful getting the shot in the wrist. After the dr. was done and I was waiting for a break in the coversation about his kids and wisconsin dells I asked him if I should feel hot and nauseous? He asked me if I felt dizzy, was I going to pass out? I said, uh yes I think I am. So he told me to lay down and the nurse brought me some water. After that had passed a little, my stomach got upset where I needed to go to the bathroom. I don't think I've had the feeling of passing out in my life. I hate that feeling of not being in control of yourself. Now was this from the pain of the shot or a reaction from the the cortisone itself? Like I said I've had plenty of cortisone shots other places but never felt the pain like that or wanting to pass out. I don't think I'm going to do that one again.

That sounds kinda funky? Did the doc think it had to do with the shot or does he think it was something else?

Had you eaten that day?
Were you nervous about something?
Could you be pregnant?

WOW - sorry that happened to you. I think sometimes our anxiety & emotions get the better of our bodies.
I had to have an internal procedure a few months ago (down there ) and because I was so worked up and nervous, when we were done and I went to sit up I got very lightheaded and had to lay back down. My body got warm & then cold, flushed, etc.
Hope you are feeling better today

I've felt the same way with Cortisone shots that I have had in my wrists. The pain is out of this world and I think that is the cause of feeling faint. I get that faint feeling with most painful precedure type things.

My sister has had many in her ankle & has told me how painful they were. I had one in my arm 2 years ago & I recall thinking it didn't hurt as much as I thought. Then, I had to lay down for a while & they brought me juice. I was going to pass out as well.

I guess it must depend on where you get the shot on how bad the pain is. I don't think I'm getting one in the wrist again. Today the wrist hurts to pick things up.
