I used to just take it, wouldn't fight back at all, then I became a sensitive fighter, like Chirsty described, and took everything personally. Then about 8 years ago now, I started standing up for myself. So I guess that makes me a defensive fighter?? not sure. If I have a very strong feeling about something I will stand my ground but be very open to the other side. My DH is good at this, bringing up very valid points, and then I admit that I am "wrong" or thinking about something incorrectly. I think if you are "fighting" that itself means you care. I do this alot with my sister....fight and say "I don't care" when I really do.
ETA: The baby started crying and didn't finish my thought. Wanted to say, that from time to time, even now, I will still "take it" sometimes, depending on the situation, or take something personally and be sensitive about it. However, and maybe this comes with age....afterwards I can take ownership within myself for my part in the "fight". If that makes any sense at all....that is a hard thought to write out.
