I was wondering how many of you are really into skin care. Do you splurge on expensive brands, or do you buy at the drugstore? I used to use Philosophy, which is very expensive but I have recently switched to Neutrogena which seems to be just as good at less than half the cost

Yes I do. Ever since my last kid I have had a terrible problem with zits and the only thing that I found that helps is Lush! Which I love cuz it's all made naturally!

I usually use Clinique skin care, which I think is fairly moderate--maybe a little on the spendy side. At a facial recently, though, my esthetician suggested a few bottles of pricier stuff and I went for it. They were each about $50 for 1 ounce containers, which is absurd but it is really nice stuff.

I'll probably go back to Clinique when I'm done with this just because it's cheaper!

Of the drugstore stuff, I really like Aveeno.

At this point in my life, Im 40, I wouldnt mind spending a little more on skin care, but I havent found anything I like. Silly me, Ive gotten free samples in the mail of stuff but throw the package away and then when I get to the store try and figure out what it was and buy the wrong thing. Ive found a couple products I liked that way - one was Garnier - but far be it from me to figure out what it was!

What does everyone use?

I've tried clinique, estee lauder and store brands, but never found anything I was happy with until I got free samples in the mail from DHC. I've been using DHC for about 3 years now, as do my sisters. We have actually been stopped in public with comments about our skin. I had terrible acne when I was younger and I never in my life expected to be told I had beautiful skin when I'm in my 40's. I use their olive-oil system, which is $75. You get free samples w/ every order and free samples in every catalog, so I try other stuff on occasion.

I use AVON Anew products. I used to use Oil of Olay, but the ANEW is cheaper and does better for my skin.

Nope!!! I wash daily in the shower with my plain old Ivory soap. If I need lotion, I have some Jergens stuff. I have great skin though!

I do not. I have not noticed any difference between inexpensive/moderate brands of cleansers, moisturizers, etc. In fact a lot of the more expensive ones were more irritating or caused me to get acne, which I do not get any more. My makeup remover is Ponds (super inexpensive) my cleanser is Cetaphil because I have very sensitive skin (models use this as well and love it because it is so inexpensive) and my moisturizer is Oil of Olay Total Effects with SPF 30 sunscreen. At my stage of life, sun is probably the most damaging thing I can do with it so I use a very high SPF on my face. I have also not noticed any difference when I use relatively inexpensive makeup (think Clinique) and much higher priced makeup.

To me it's like Aldi's. I could spend more, but why? It's all the same stuff anyway.
