Does anyone else deal with this? I have PMS for a week before I get my period, and I'm absolutely EXHAUSTED, even though I do sleep fairly well (6-7 hours a night). I seriously have trouble keeping my eyes open throughout the day and I have no energy whatsoever. And then I get my period and it continues, but I get the added bonus of icky period things (bloating, cramps, headaches, etc). Does anyone know why I get so tired? Is there anything I can do to combat it? Thanks!

have you had your iron checked? You could be anemic.

Have you had your iron checked? I too find I get like this too so I started taking an iron supplement for 1 - 1 1/2 weeks. I have a history of anemia so I know what symptoms to look for.

A quick way to check your iron levels is buying looking at your pink area of your eyes (pull down your bottom lid of your eye - if it is bright pink your iron levels are good, if it is pale pink you are low in iron.

I get that way too, minus the headaches. I usually just lay down and take a nap

Oh, me too. I take an iron supplement too. During those weeks I feel as though I'm walking through water. Everything takes more energy. It's so hard. I wish I could find something that helped. The only thing that has made a bit of difference us cutting out all sugar during that time as it only makes the exhaustion worse. I try and eat high protein, low carb during that time and it does help a bit.

I have an appointment in a few weeks and this is the same issue I'll be discussing with my doctor. Being so tired the week before and during, migraines during those two weeks and I stay hungry all the time those weeks as well. I've been thinking for awhile now that I'm probably a little anemic but I still need something to do for the migraines and hunger. So maybe in a few weeks I'll have some advice for 'ya! Seriously, maybe you should schedule a check-up with your gyn to see what suggestions they may have for you.

I get the same exact way. In fact I didn't exercise all last week because I felt so bad.

wouldn't that be only during my period (b'c of blood loss)? my periods aren't nearly as heavy as they used to be, yet the exhaustion is far worse than it's ever been.

How do you know this stuff? lol According to this, I'm low in iron. I suppose I need some iron supplements.. add that to the grocery list!

*I just checked my multi-vitamin, which was stashed in the closet, unopened (*hangs head*), and it has 100% of daily req. for iron. So I took one of those this morning. I've been to the gyn about this already, as I thought I had some thyroid issues b'c I was so tired so often. I was tested and came out fine with those, but maybe it's just lack of proper vitamins each day. I should be taking my multi-vitamin anyway... shame on me. LOL
