Do you know that is just about 5 miles!?! Doesn't that seem amazing. Though I haven't actually hit 10,000 with my walks (I'm not counting what I do in my normal everyday life). But it just amazes me that 10,000 steps is so many miles. Just kind of blows me away - while 10,000 steps doesn't seem THAT much - 5 miles seems, a LOT!

Does this make sense to anyone but me?

Five miles DOES seem like a lot more than 10,000 steps. I already take 13,000-15,000 a day, no way am I going to walk 5 miles more in addition to that, lol.

I set up a program last year: WALKTOBER (I should dig up some of those old posts) anyway, the initial goal was to get people to walk 10,000 steps, which is indeed 5 miles. However, the kicker is, some pedometers are a little more sensitive than others...so if you accidentally nudge your pedometer or trip or stumble, you can tack on up to 5 extra steps~ so it's not super accurate however, if done correctly (walking 5 miles) it would show 10,000 to be that distance.

All of you, if you can, should jot down your distances each day. Then after a week, set a goal of how many steps you want to achieve the following week, and so on. Even if that means upping your steps 500 a week, or walking an extra day. Every little bit counts!
