I'm so jealous! I tried to get my DS up on skis last weekend. He had them on and then his grandfather made some comment about if he says he doesn't want to do it then we are done. Of course that freaked him out and he said he didn't want to do it. My FIL, who was driving the boat, his boat, pulled it into the cove and got out. I was very upset - he gave him NO encouragement. I was speachless.

What a very exciting moment you and your husband had! Is she hooked? How old is she?

That is a shame that they weren't supportive.

My dd is five. She started on the water sled at two years old. When she was three she road the kneeboard a few times but was too scared. Last year, at four years old, she owned the kneeboard. She started on the boom and was behind the boat by July.

She is hooked on kneeboarding. She cuts outside the wakes, attacks rollers, side slides, mini jumps the wake.

We haven't hooked her on skiing, yet. However, every day we went out this weekend she asked to try it again.

Everyone in the boat has to be supportive. Build up their confidence. Take the camera and tell them you want to take pictures to show their friends. We have gotten several kids to ski or kneeboard that otherwise wouldn't try. You have to make them feel excited about it. My huband and I were snow ski instructors so we use those skills in teaching waterskiing.
