A few years ago I had some gyn problems. I was going into pre-menopause so I took hormone replacement therapy. That stimulated the growth of my uterine fibroids which is fairly common. Around the same time I had an abnormal PAP and ended up getting a LEEP. I never had cancer, just some issues, partly due to getting older. Since I had years of infertility treatments, my uterus and I never did get along well, and the hormones from those drugs made me high risk for ovarian cancer. My doctor and I decided it was time to get it all over with so I had a complete hysterectomy. I'm now on the hormone replacement therapy patch - and I love it.

Well, even though a woman doesn't have a cervix she still needs to get a PAP. There is an area called 'the cervical cuff' that still remains that can develop problems.

You wanna guess? Yeah, my PAP came back abnormal.

I'm freaking out. If this is serious it means, as my doctor says, "More tissue will have to be removed". I feel like I'm being chopped away at bit by bit. If it isn't serious the "situation needs to be watched" which means I could end up with sugery down the road anyway.

I'm being referred to a specialist and won't know anything for a while. I hate that this is hanging over my head. On top of it, I've been having an arthritis flare which has left me grumpy and depressed. Now I'm just weepy. I had to tell someone. Hubby is gone on a biz trip AGAIN and I don't want to tell real0life friends until I have something to tell them.

I hope everything turns out ok, and it is just a mistake with the test results.

I hate those kinds of phone calls. I am sorry. I hope it will be absolutely nothing. When can you get in to see the specialist?

I wish the best for you and am sending positive thoughts your way. Just make sure you get in to see the specialist asap----if they say there is no appt for months, then call everyday, someone will cancel

Thanks. I'm feeling a little better today. You're right, did the doctor HAVE to call on a Friday?

She can be a little ditzy sometimes. Like when she called she kept says, "...your cervix...". When I could get a word in edgewise I reminded her that I didn't have a cervix. That's when she said, "Oh, well I only deal with the cervical form. You have the vaginal form so what specialist do you want to use?" She said it like I could pull a specialist's name off the top of my head! Luckily, I could, but really!

She also stressed that the chances that this is a false-positive are very low. You know what my biggest fear is? That they'll have to keep taking so much tissue that I won't have a viable vagina anymore. That would be so awful. I'm not ready to give up all hope of a sex-life, YKWIM? Think I can get a tummy-tuck out of this?
