I have been fighting insomnia for two weeks now. I'm dead tired when I go to bed but my mind clicks on as soon as my head hits the pillow and I CAN"T SHUT IT OFF!!!! It was well past 3 when I finally dozed off. What do YOU do to help you get to sleep?????? When your mind starts thinking how do you tell it to stop!!!!!!!!!!!

I struggle with this myself. The last time I did it, I sat down and wrote and wrote and wrote. I wrote about my problems and I came up with solutions -- it did put me back to sleep and I've been a bit more relaxed since then.

Invest in a sleep mask & possibly ear plugs. I too suffer from the same problem. I cannot keep the ear plugs in because I'm scared I won't hear DD if she needs me, but I run a HEPA filter for white noise and wear the sleep mask. I bought three before I found one that I really, really like. Now I wear it every night without fail. It's like once it's on, my body "knows" it's time for sleep and everything else somehow slips away.

Can you tell I highly recommend it?

I do not encourage being an alcoholic but a glass of Merlot puts me to sleep every time!

I think I'll try a glass of wine with the meletonin!!! grassisgreener, I've been wearing an eye patch and ear plugs for years and LOVE LOVE LOVE them. By the way, I've heard all three children when they needed me so don't be afraid you wont hear them. I think it has more to do with momma intuition than anything else. I think I may have to start writing for a bit. I'm a teacher and have been stressed lately getting my routine back in order, a ds who is starting middle school and $$$$. I may have to start earlier in the day going over my problems or "todo" list and working them out so I can get my mind to SHUT OFF!! Thanks ladies!

Avoid caffeine late in the day.
Exercise
Journal
Make time for yourself during the day
Hot tea (camomile)
Hot shower/bath
I like the idea about writing out all your problems and then coming up with solutions.

Good luck!
