I Have Searched And Searched on line with no answers!

My Thumbnail , had A regular hangnail a Few Weeks ago. I Trimmed it Off , didn't Tear or rip it off.
Then a Few Days Later My Tumb Hurt a little and was a Tiny Bit Swollen By the Nail , No Big deal , I Thought. ..There was no Real Signs of Infection.

Now It appears the nail is Splitting at the Bottom Of the Nail , and the Nail Bed ( or Maybe its the quick ) is Starting to Become Exposed
It Doesn't Look Bad , Except For that Exposed part Which Hurts Like Hell!! It really Appears to Be a Normal Nail , No Swelling or Redness.
I Put Neosporin on it About 5 times a day and keep It Covered with a Bandage I Also Change a lot!
I Let it Exposed to Air for a Few hours at night.
It Just does not Seem to Be healing!
Will it Heal?
Will I Lose the Nail?
The Nail Still seems Tight, Its Just Split At the Bottom.

I think this is a good one for a doctor!

Sorry that isn't a lot of help. Good luck with it.

Sounds like you may have exposed the open wound to a nail fungus. I'd call a podiatrist to see if they would look at your thumb nail for you. If not, your general doctor should be able to help. You want to get on top of that because the treatment for a long term infection is FAR worse than dealing with it now.

This sounds like something a dermatologist would be good to consult about.

soak it in the hotest water you can stand and DREFT laundry detergent. Do it a few times a day. It has to be DREFT. Dreft has a special enzyme in it that works REALLY well on infection. I had an infected ingrown toenail, really, really bad. I really didn't want to go to the dr (I read on the internet what they do for it- ugh!). My mom told me about the soaking in DReft. I had some so I tried it. Within two weeks, completely healed.

The other thing is to keep it covered. I would avoid the neosporin, since that is an antibiotic ointment, not for fungal infections, and I would think keeping it moist would keep it from healing. Don't worry about exposing it to air. Keep a band aid on it, you have to keep dirt, etc out of it. Make sure the dressing stays clean and dry. You can get this little plastic things (I think they are called cotlets) they look like tiny little condoms, that you can slide over the thumb.

Give the dreft a week to ten days, if you don't see any difference or if it gets worse, head to the doctor.

I Saw those at CVS and I think I May Go get some! Thanks!

Well , I Am not Against Going to the dr.
I Just don't Know this warrents a dr. visit.

I do not think it is infected at all - I See No Signs of Fungal infection either.
Believe me I Have searched and Searched , stories and Pictures.

If You want to Get Ill , google some nail Fungus Pics! Lol !

This Nail looks Like it is Coming Off , It is Loose at the bottem.
I think that May be what I Have to wait For , and in the mean time I will watch it for infection.
Thanks for all the advice!
