What steps do you take to slow it down ... or at least keep yourself sane?!?

Currently I'm doing the, "Live in the moment and this will pass. Or at least I hope it will pass." It actually helps but I'm curious what everyone else does.

Being able to see the light at the end of the tunnel really helps me. Also just slowing down and getting awya by myself, even to the grocery store helps me collect myself.

Being still for a little bit helps calm my swirling mind. Making lists also helps - at least them it's out of my brain and I can feel I won't (theoretically at least!) forget something.

You know, I think that is part of my problem. I've lost my bill book (the monthly list I make that shows me what bill is due and when) and I'm not feeling grounded without that book. I need to find it!

My life is not insane but the kids and puppy have been keeping me busy.

I agree with Happymom, if I get to go to the grocery store by myself it is a nice break. Try to do something away from the chaos so you can collect your thoughts.

I'm right there with ya, this has been quite a summer and I'm ready for it to go away! It needs to even out soon for the sake of dh and my relationship.
I have been giving myself "time out", I separate myself from whatever is about to put me over the edge, go sit down by myself and do circular breathing. It really helps.
I've also been going to the grocery store by myself more, it's relaxing and methodical and feels so normal when things around here have been not so normal.
I need to make a new bill spreadsheet too, my old one doesn't have all of out current bills on it and I'm always forgetting something (I hate bi-monthly student loan payments, what's the point of that??).
Plus, honestly, I've been sleeping a lot. When life gets to be too much, I go to bed early and sleep hard. Dh has been good about letting me sleep in when he knows I need it. Worry and sadness are exhausting emotions and it helps give me a clear head the next day. I'm trying to get replace it with walking in the morning, though, I need to get back to a regular early morning exercise routine. I know it will help a lot once I do it.
{{hugs to you}}
