When we were kids we had the entire world ahead of us. We thought big, dreamed big, wanted to live big! That's the beauty of being naive!

What were your big dreams as a kid? What kept you back from following them?

I wanted to be a lawyer because I loved to argue. I wanted a big house with a lot of land, so I could have lots of dogs and cats. I wanted the perfect husband and 2 perfect kids.

Now reality: decided I didn't like school enough to stick with it that long for becoming a lawyer. Not wealthy, now living paycheck to paycheck. Have a decent size house, but would love bigger. Then again, just means more I would have to clean. I do have the perfect husband and 1 perfect kid. Our finances will never be great, and we are very happy with the little family we have created.

Thanks for this post Christy, makes me realize I do have a pretty good life!

I wanted my whole life to be a teacher ... but I didn't get into teacher's college.

Believe it or not I wanted to be the President of the United States (talk about dreaming BIG), because I thought I knew everything and was loaded with common sense...

Reality: Went to college and realized I hated politics and debating because most of it was just nonsense anyway, and decided to change my major to computer programming, which is much more suited to my taste..

Instead of becoming president, I am, currently mother of 1 DD and have a DS on the way so I guess you could say I'm president of my own home, which is a much more difficult job compared to the president's if I must say so myself....LOL!

My two friends and I (all in the 4th grade at the time) were going to buy a ranch in Wyoming or Montana. We would have a bunkhouse, 12 horses, 12 dogs, and 12 cats. It was going to be a real, working ranch as well as a dude ranch . . . .

Well, sadly, I guess, I realized that I couldn't continue to be such a tomboy without getting a lot of flack from the world, in general.

My big dreams were to be a Stay at Home mom! It's all I've ever wanted to be. Of course I wanted to be the PERFECT Stay at Home Mom, but that's another story...

I'm pretty much living the life I'd always hoped. I'd like to be a little more secure with our finances (I'd like my van to be paid off, plus our Fully Funded Emergency Fund), but we'll get there (hopefully by next year). Other than that, I'm pretty much living my dream!

Oh, and I always wanted boys too! I grew up with 3 sisters (I was the tom boy) My oldest sister had 2 daugters by the time I was in high school. I always said someday I would have a bunch of boys - enough for a soccer team. (of course THAT'S not gonna happen)

I wanted to be a teacher, marry a perfect man and have three kids. I never wanted to be a sahm at all, that was the last thing on my list.
Reality...I am a freelance writer who rarely writes...gonna have to improve that to supplement our income. I am married to a man who is far from perfect but couldn't be more perfect for me. I cannot bear the thought of being a teacher now, lol. I am a sahm to one little boy and another on the way...unless God has other plans that will be all the kids we have. I also have a stepdaughter who lives out of state that we never get to see. Everytime I think about how close I came to being a teacher...blaah. I can't bear that thought now!

I'm glad I'm not the only one. This was my first thought when I read Christy's post. I have no recollection of what my dreams were.
