I have four containers for trash/recycling; trash can, trash can for plastic/glass/cans, compost bucket, Rubbermaid tub for junk mail/paperboard/paper and cardboard boxes in the garage.
How do you sort or organize your stuff. I'm looking for a better system.

We have three containers provided by our city. One holds the cans, plastic jugs, glass and newspapers. One holds grass clippings, cardboard/cereal boxes, etc. The other one holds whatever is left over. These all sit outside by our garage. I have two garbage cans in the house. One holds the normal garbage and one holds the pop cans and glass. Normally I just set the cardboard boxes, newspapers, etc. on a pile on top of one of the cans and take them out once a day to the appropriate container. This system works great for us.

In my pantry, I have 3 white kitchen trash cans all the same next to one another. Recently bought at Target, lids we don't use. They are all labeled (I need to take pictures and picture label them with contact paper for the kids) Nice neat and organized and guests know what to do as well.

Pictures is a great idea. I will print some for the girls.
I have a big rubbermaid bin for the paper products because dh takes it to the dump and normally only takes it once a month.

We don't have to sort our recycling. I have one trash can in the kitchen for trash, and one in the coat closet for recycling.

That is convenient. The recycling center requires it to be sorted into categories.

2 trash cans and 1 big box for us. The city requires garbage in a white or black trash bag, so we have that in the kitchen. Glass/cans/plastic must be in a see through bag, so that is in the kitchen also, right next to the trash can. The box is for our cardboards recycling. I usually break it down every few days and throw it in the box, kept outside in the garage.

We have to sort and deliver our recyclables ourselves. We have the kitchen trash can in the kitchen, then in the garage, just outside from the kitchen, I have a blue recycle box (that the previous owners left) for our paper/cardboard, then I have our old kitchen trash can (when the lid broke) for plastics, and my mil old kitchen trash can that she was pitching for cans. I take the containers with me once a week and dump them straight into the bins so I don't deal with putting the recyclables into extra bags and such.
The only time I dread recycling is the week after Christmas when the cardboard bins are overflowing!

We are provided 2 bins (I believe this is a one time thing though-you pay out of pocket if replacements or additional bins are needed) . One bin is for plastics, glass and cans and the other is for paper products. These bins stay in my garage. In the kithcen I have a small trash can that I add all clean (gosh it's hard to get my family to rinse stuff!) recyclables to and whenever needed I sort in garage into their appropriate bins. Our city also p/u outdoor compostables every other week during the appropriate months.

i keep cereal boxes and stuff it with all paper and cardboard stuff. the plastics that are recyclable( i.e. milk bags( in and outside), cheese slice wrappers etc...all go into the outside bag the milk comes in. all the rest go into the bin( tins etc) and they sort it out when they come for it. i put the milk bag of plastics on top of the blue box and the cereal boxes of cardboard/paper beside the bin at the curb.
