What do you do when friends come over that is simple and enjoyable?

We've been BBQing a lot this summer. I do the prep work, which gives me time to socialize with the women-folk usually inside the house, while DH goes outside (with the men) to BBQ.

I also like playing a game here and there. And lots of chit-chat.

What I hate is when someone pops in a movie, which is what happened last night when friends came over, and so often my DH is the first one to pop a movie in. Though last night it wasn't DH who put the movie in. It just completely ruins any attempt of conversation.

Play cards or board games.
Sometimes we plan a movie night where everyone brings a munchie to share while watching.

To be honest...we just sit around and talk! I love having people over, we sit around, talk about the kids, talk about work etc Just talk/laugh and enjoy each other.

There is this one couple that comes over once a month, after a car show.

I fix some kind of dessert, sometimes two and we eat dessert, drink coffee and talk!

During football season we have football night. Everyone brings some kind of "football" sanck and we watch several games at one time! It is fun, and we laugh at each other running back and forth between the tv's.

We also do a lot of grilling, and then enjoy eating on the deck. Afterwards, we like to have bonfires in our fire pit in the back yard.
