My New Years Resolution this year was to start recycling cardboard. Each week I am flabbergasted at how much smaller my weekly trash pickup is. I've been at it for almost a year now, and it is so easy to flatten the boxes and put them aside for recycling. I can't believe how much cardboard is in our lives - everything from cereal boxes to shoe boxes. Our trash can used to be full to the top every week and now it is maybe half full.

Does your city pick up cardboard? Our does, and I didn't even realize it until I called (I had been taking mine somewhere to drop it off). As long as it is flat, they will pick it up!

We take all of our recyclables to a drop off site. We have a ton of paperboard and cardboard! We put out very little garbage each week.

My husband takes all the trash and recycling directly to the dump. Our driveway is super long and it would be silly to haul it up there, the dump is 5 minutes from our house.

Paper board adds up FAST around here. I have a rubber maid bin on my porch and it is filled every week with junk mail and paper board.

I also recycle card board. I don't have as much of that as paper board.

I didn't know the difference either. I was calling all of it cardboard. Whatever it is, we accumulate a lot of it each week too!

I actually recycle more paperboard than anything else - I just keep a brown paper grocery bag in my pantry and when we empty something it goes in that bag. It's so easy because there's no rinsing involved.

We are actually considering going to a pay-as-you-throw collection program because we have so little actual garbage. One of my neighbors did it and she is paying about half of what she did before on trash collection.

I use a brown paper grocery bag for paperboard I usually have to set it out for recycling every 2 weeks!

My actual garbage has gone down a lot over the last couple of years as I gotten better about more recycling!

I admit sometimes on garbage days I just shake my head when I walk the kids to school I can't believe how much trash some people have every week

I am still trying to get better with the recycling. I have been breaking down the cracker, cereal boxes and such more. I just need to be more diligent and find a organized solution to my recycling so that it will be easy to maintain and stick to it the whole recycling ways.
