A friend just gave me an aloe vera plant as a gift. What can you use this for, besides soothing burns and scrapes?

I take babies from mine and repot for gifts also. i have never used them for anything than burns (expecially sunburn) My dh says they are good for rashes, skin irritations, bug bites. I will have to check out the web and see what I can find out. Interesting queston.

it can also help with basically any skin irritation, many people with excema and psoriasis swear by it. It's hydrating and easily absorbed into the skin cells that produce collagen and elastin (which is why it's also great for burns and wounds etc because it can speed up the rate of healing), many expensive moisturizers and creams that guarantee to make your skin younger looking and smoother use aloe as one of the main components.

A home remedy for asthma is to boil leaves in water and breath the vapors.

A home remedy for IBS is to take it internally, I have no idea how you'd go about preparing that to eat/drink though.
