They starting piling up don't they? I have three costumes that my DD has outgrown. At this point I'm saving them for my DS but I really wonder if I really shouldn't just pass them on. No idea if he'll even be interested in wearing them. On the bright side, all three are gender free, but his interests are so different from his sisters ... are they just taking up space I don't have?

What do you do?

Last year's tutu and wand get used for dress-up. This year, I removed the bow from her dress and she can wear it as a regular dress. In fact, she insisted on wearing it to church on Sunday. Our costumes this year can also be worn as regular clothing.

I have a Holloween Plastic Container that store all related items. I just put all costumes in there. And this year it actually helped out. I had some relatives come over unexpectedly, and I had 2 extra costumes from last year that those 2 kids wore. Since I have 3 boys, it helps to save them for their little brother, but I assume once the little will be grown out of it, I will pass it on to their cousins or friends kids.

We typically end up giving them away to friends and family. I like to make their costumes and a lot of times folks are saying "I need that next year!"...which is great, that someone else can use it.

When M'ija was little, she kept hers and just kept using them to play in throughout the year until she either outgrew them or they fell apart.
Now that we're all adult sizes, we have a box of costume and prop items, along with stage makeup that we keep everything in until we need it again. We have grass skirts, coconut and seashell bras, leis, cowboy hats, bullwhips, a clown suit, a gi, a flesh-colored body stocking with day-glo fig leaves painted on it, Mardi Gras masks, knives, swords, eye patches, hair extensions, hair paint, etc. I pick up whatever makeup, costume accessories, and props I find on after-Halloween clearance really cheap each year and just add it to the box.

I'm planning on keeping mine until next year in case Jamie wants to wear one of them again. (His was a little big this year.) After that I don't know...

We throw them in the dress-up bin. The smaller ones that don't fit anymore still get worn sometimes when they have younger friends over. Special costumes I'm saving (the kids each have a box of "special" clothing and costumes that I can't bring myselt to give away).
