WOW you are my hero... I've been grumbling about laundry lately. DH and I had a huge fight this week about it in fact (we don't usually fight) but the laundry just never ends and it's getting annoying! I only have 3 kiddos, so you are my hero. I will think of you now whenever I start to feel grumbly...

I don't seperate my clothes unless they ahve never been washed before. My washer and dryer is off of the kitchen in the bathroom. So when the kids put there jammies on at night they go directly in the machine. I have a laundry basket in my closet in my bedroom. iT's a smaller closet of two. I bring the clothes down each morning and do a load.

We have laundry hampers in each room.
However I have a rule in my house. If it is not in the hamper Im not washing it. It was always expected that I would just pick up the clothes from where-ever they were left, but I decidced to leave them there. When there was no clean clothes to wear I showed them their bedroom floors full of clothes all nice and dirty. It only happend once, now there is never any clothes lying around and everyone puts thier clothes in thier hampers.
My washing days are much easier now.

We all have hampers in our closets...they're not very big and luckily we have big closets. I couldn't stand a hamper in a bathroom, that would make me nuts, but that's me.

We have a laundry basket in each bedroom and it is my DS responsibility to bring his basket to the laundry room on Friday - take it back to his room when the laundry is done and put his clothes away. He's been bringing his clothes and taking them back since he was 3! We only have 1 floor in the house to no laundry chute. I try to start laundry Fri. night and finish on Sat. I could not stand to do it everyday!

We have 5 hampers!!!! And there are 5 of us! The reason being that we live in a small 2 bedroom apartment and it is hard for us to get to do the laundry.
On the weekends I take all of the clothes to my parents house and do it there. That way on the weekends when they are home we can spend time with them. They are moving in spring and we are taking over their house so then we will have a laundry chute.
I think that I will then get rid of most of the hampers. I would love to be able to do one load a day since dh is changing his clothes at least twice a day for his jobs!

We have a several laundry baskets. I don't know how we manage to dirty up so much laundry. We have one in each of the kids room and one in the master bedroom. We live in a small townhome so it helps to have them so there is not so much clutter.

We have one laundry basket which we keep in the upstairs hallway (not the most attractive place but certainly the most central - it gets put in a closet when company is over).

When it gets full (about every other day), I carry it to the basement, do a load of lights, a load of darks, fold it back up and carry it back upstairs and put it away.

What I don't understand is why builders (at least in our end of the world) put laundry rooms in the basement. All our laundry is upstairs and it would be really handy to have our washer and dryer on the same level as the bedrooms. But, I guess I get more exercise this way.

We have 2 hampers one in our room and one for the kids. Its just a clear plastic no lid one from Ikea. It takes up less room than a clothes basket would. No big deal to dump in a basket and carry to the basement.
