My kids still have a ton of toys but many are older ones (that I haven't gotten rid of). For the past year or two, I have really been pushing for clothes, books, Dvds, or music for them. Or consumable stuff life crayons and paper, bath kits, etc. My cousin has 2 daughters almost the same ages as my sons. They share a room, like my boys. When I go to visit I am always in shock b/c they have seriously no toys. They have a shelf with a ton of video game-type stuff, and the little one has a couple of Barbies. That's it. I questioned my cousin about it and she said b/c the girls are in school, and then aftercare until 6, they don't really have time in the evenings to play. On the weekends, they do family stuff, so the video games is enough for playtime.
Well, that made sense to me. But my kids come straight home from school so there is time for playtime. I like them having some cars, blocks, and action figures to pretend with. BUT they have got all that stuff already. So I have also said no way to buying new stuff. When you really think about, there is not enough time for them to really "play" with so many toys!
