I have a kitchen composter. My MIL gave it to me for Christmas and you'd think I won the lottery! It looks like a really nice ice bucket. She got it a Lee Valley Tools for you Canadians. You just line it with a produce bag (clear) then a bio bag. Then I put all my veggie, fruit, bread and other non-meat scraps in there. I don't use it for leftovers or anything but old cereal, coffee grounds, etc. goes in there. It has a tight fitting lid and I empty it into our regular composter every 4 days or so. It makes me feel so good I'm not throwing away stuff that will make wonderful compost some day! I really feel like I'm 'making the earth very happy' as we tell our ds.

So does anyone else kitchen compost?

Oh yes! It was on my Christmas list. I have the one from Plow and Hearth. I don't line mine. I just toss the goods in my outside compost bin every few days and rinse it out. It even has a filter for take care of any odors. I just love it!

We have the same one from Lee Valley Tools! We compost too. Great for the garden and it really reduces our garbage too.

Funny, I've been looking at these lately. I'll have to check out the one from Plow and Hearth. I checked out one from Lehman's that I may get. Now I just have to start a garden...this summer.
