Hi everyone! I'm new to this website and am really encouraged by all of you to simplify my life!

Maybe you all have discussed this before, but how many outfits/clothes do you own? I'm a recovering impulsive buyer and want to pare down my wardrobe. I have waaaayyyy too many clothes. Has anyone ever done this? If so, do you have any tips for me to just release it and let it go??? Any advice would be appreciated.

Thank you!

If you havent worn it in one year its got to go. AS far has how many outfits, well that all depends on your life style. Know body can tell you that but can tell you that as a sham that almost never leaves the house I primarly wear about five different outfits. The other things just hang in my closet.

I was kinda thinking about this today, I thought it would be great if I could just get rid of all the old stuff I have, which is everything I have (I haven't bought anything in over 3 years for myself, and the last things I did get were given to me by a friend). If I could do it, I would buy like five pairs of comfortable pants and a couple of pair of dress pants and just maybe seven coordinating tops for someplace like LL Bean or Lands End. Good quality clothing that would last for a long time. Since I'm a SAHM, and I really don't go anyplace except the store once a week and church, I don't really need a lot of things. Of course we all know none of their clothing is cheap, so I guess I'll just go on thinking about it.

Not much! But before I sound too monastic I am down 25 lbs and I have 13 lbs more to go. Just this last Wednesday I got rid of all my fat clothes. :rah rah: I am not buying anything else until I reach my goal weight. Until then I have...

2 pairs of jeans
1 pair of chinos
1 pair of black dress pants

2 blouses
4 long sleeve t-shirts
3 sweater / sweatshirts.

Once I reach my goal weight, I'm getting a whole new wardrobe but I'm keeping it simple. 5 outfits max and all good quality. I love Landsend.

It would be sooo nice to update with new, fresh clothes. We moms deserve it! Just getting up the gumption to throw the old and work up the money for the new is the key!!!

I don't count, but not too many! I got rid of things I do not regularly wear.

I don't have much at all, but that is b/c I've been changing sizes and going from normal to maternity constantly for the past 5 years! I've got about 5 pairs of pants, 2 that actually fit nice, and around 7 tops that fit right now, but I have my favorite 5 that I wear every week. I need new clothes but by the change of seasons I will have gotten down another size so I'll buy spring/summer clothes then. I think 7-10 outfits for SAHM and 10-15 outfits for Working moms sounds good to me!
