Feeding the birds! I love birds, all kinds of birds. In the fall/early winter we let our feeders empty and never bothered to fill them up. Last week I filled them all up again and it took a week but they are all back. Big birds, little birds every kind of bird-bird
I then had some old bread that I was saving for when we go to the duck pond in the spring. However, the ducks are getting aggressive and I've just been bringing one bag of bread with me lately, so I had more than enough. I left some in pieces, some I broke into bits, etc. and it was such a pleasure to watch all the birds in our yard!
No one else has been feeding them here either, and it has been so 'empty' around here especially with the long winter. But it's been such a pleasure to have their 'company' out our window at lunchtime! I even went so far as to render some bacon fat, mix it into sunflower seeds and make little 'bird treats' from it. I just poured everything into a plastic fruit bowl container, dh punched a hole in it and I can supend it with wire to a tree branch. This is fun for me, I love nature, it is inexpensive, we're helping our little featherd friends (not to mention getting free entertainment from the squirrels!)
