Here at the end of a long, cold January, someone somewhere needs to smile.
And YOU can make it happen.

The challenge: surprise someone with a "regift"- something you ALREADY HAVE and don't have to go out and buy. It could be a book you know they'd enjoy or something you own that they've admired. It could be a batch of cookies or an hour's babysitting or a cutting from a plant. It could be anything- the point is just to make someone smile- because it's the little things that make life great, isn't it?

I am planning to surprise my nephew with an 18 year old gift (see my blog).

Let's post how it goes...

I gave our babysitter a set of glasses that I had that was extra and a new pledge duster kit. My sister sent me coupons for 5 Pledge dusters so the dusters ended up being free. My babysitter was so excited . Plus this afternoon my coworker didn't have lunch and I always keep a spare Lean Cuisine in the freezer so I gave that to her.

I actually did something like this last week, my DS's pre-K teacher had been asking for us to bring in any extra hats and gloves that we had for the kids when theirs get wet, well I really didn't have any b/c I had taken a whole bag full of socks, mittens & hats that my son had out grown to goodwill, soooooo, I asked her if she could use some extra jackets, and she told me that she sure could and that there was a 'family in need' at the school and anything that my ds had out grown would be great for this family, so i gathered up 2 bags of clothes, socks, jackets & pj's and took them to the school, the teacher and the school administrator were thrilled!!

I will lose out on some money by not being able to consign this stuff, but I do believe in "pay it forward"

Does MONEY count?!?! LOL The kindergarten is learning to count change this week, and we were to send in $.60 in pennies, nickels, and dimes for them to work with. Then, when they are done, they will use the money to buy a treat at lunch! Well, when I bagged up Riley's, I bagged up two extras, too. It was change from around the house, and I can about guarantee that several children won't have the change brought in. Makes my heart break.

I did this last week. A friend of mine had to attend a funeral with her kids and didn't have anything to wear for her ds. I gave her an outfit of Nicholas' so that she didn't have to go out shopping. It felt great giving it a new home and doing something, albeit very small, to ease their stress.

We just did a regift for someone this week. My DD's teacher's wife just had a baby, we have so much baby stuff with tags still on or unused, that we put together a little basket and added a pack of diapers. They were so happy and it was nice to give some of the things we had to someone that could use it as opposed to just selling it.

I love the pay it forward idea too

This is a great idea! How fun. Now to figure out who to gift to. With 5 birthdays coming in Feb it won't be one of them...Hmmm...Maybe my little sister or mom. Woo Hoo, I am so excited!
