Our house is 1460 square feet. I've got two kids, and that's all we want for quite a while, so I'm thinking that we could probably live our whole lives in a house this size. We are on a budget to pay off our house as quick as possible (hopefully 7 years...I'm only 25 so I figure that will be pretty good), so I hate the idea of paying this off, only to sell it and buy a bigger house and have a mortgage again. What do you all think? Is a house this size big enough to live happily in for the rest of our lives?

I think it's big enough to live happily if you are comfortable in it. Ours is 1354, a little small for me. But then again, I've always loved the big, old time homes with the wrap around porch. Maybe someday!

Our house is 2549 sq. feet. We have 4 kids and a 4 bedroom house, the 2 youngest share a room for now. When the 2 oldest kids go off to college we plan to sell this house and buy something smaller.

We are about to buy a house that is only 1500 sq. ft. plus a basement. We just moved out of our 1500 sq. ft. house w/out a basement. We only have one kid. I felt that our previous house without the basement was a nice size, but I am VERY excited to get the next house with a basement. I think the basement will make all the difference in the world.

After that, I would be happy with one more kid and I think we could live very happily in the 1500 w/ basement for a long time.

Our house is somewhere in the area of 1800-2000 square feet. I don't remember how much exactly...I would have to get out paperwork out to get an exact number. There are 3 of us and we probably won't have any more kids. For us, it is the perfect size. Large enough to have space away from everyone else, and to be able to have overnight guests during holidays and whatnot. It is also small enough to not be a hassle to clean, it's reasonable to heat and cool, etc. I lived in an apartment around the size of your house and I thought it was plenty of space, it just depends on how it is laid out. I could definitely live comfortably in a house your size.

I think ours is around 2500 sq feet, that includes basement space. We have 9 people right now. My 3 oldest boys share a room, my 13 yr old has her own room, my 3 yr old and 2yr old grandson share a room and my oldest has a room in the basement where basically she just keeps her stuff. I would love to just make our living room and dining room a little bigger, but I doubt that would ever happen. Hopefully, the oldest one will be out of the house for good soon. And I think my grandson will be going to live with his dad pretty much full time soon. So, we have enough space!!! Heck another 5 years and my dd will be off at college too!!! I certainally don't want to clean anything much bigger!

I think ours is 2200 or right around that. We have considered adding another bedroom, but don't want another loan.

2700, 4 bed, 3 bath. We have one son now but hopefully another child in the future. We are more than comfortable where we are, live in a wonderful area and hope to call this home for the next 30 years!

I'm thinking 1400-1500 squ. feet --not sure its too small!!!! There are 4 of us. Three bedrooms 1 1/2 baths. But the bedrooms are 8x9, 9x9 and 12x12 I think-- very small!!!
And I have a small gally kitchen open to living room. Would love to have one of those big old houses too!!!

My house is around 1450 sq. ft. With just DS and I it is enough room. The only thing I would wish for is a basement. Long-term and seasonal storage is a pain in the butt without a basement. If I ever got remarried we would need to buy a bigger house since DS and I are used to spreading out over the space we have now. If that doesn't happen then this will be my home for many many years to come - probably till they carry me out of it at 87 years old!
