I read this in our local paper earlier this week. Sounds like she's had a bit of a varied life and is ready for another new start. More power to her, if that's what works for her. I can understand doing that if you're starting a new chapter in life. I'm actually a bit surprised it doesn't happen more often with all the relocation that occurs these days.

My mom did something similar to this. But instead of selling all of her stuff, she gave most of it away to people she knew. It was a good thing, too, because after my grandmother passed away in January, she ended up with most of HER stuff and that is a lot! My mom said it was the best feeling to get rid of it all, because she had been dragging it around the country for the last 30+ years and was tired of it.

More power to her if she can live without it...Don't know what she'll do without that Village People album though! (I found it very amusing that among the things they chose to list, that was one of them!)

There are days I wouldn't mind doing this myself! I've gotten to the point that I hate stuff, but yet I keep dragging it around because I don't know what to do with it.

I've thought about this more than once. Like if we moved, we could just sell our house with all the stuff in it. LOL DH had friends that the father worked for the Salvation Army and took a missionary job overseas. They said sayonara to almost everything except for a little bit of clothing, etc. That was necessity for them (they would have had to store it all if they didn't get rid of it) but it sounds......relieving.

Seems extreme to me, but if she can do it, great!! I sometimes wish I could just give everything away and start over with simplicity and organization. Much easier to prevent chaos than tame it, but that's not possible right now
