my own family is great....all avid savers, couponers cleaners...etc.

What grates me about my dh mother...is that her house is a dump...my husband only has 1sister and she lives in the parents old house which was GIVEN to her and the place is completely destroyed. She also pays most of their bills and has to buy all her (3kids)clothes.

I would think she would be happy to have one kid who managed to buy ,pay for and maintain his own house and a wife who takes care of all of it.My husband/her son is a truck driver so I do alot...I cut our grass...weedeat....plant the flowers, take out the trash...keep the cars clean....I just feel she's way out of line with the comments to me.

Am I wrong???

DOn't have the clean problem since my house is not spotless unless I ahve a big event going on.
as for as the coupons/stockpiling. just about everyone makes fun of me but it doesn't bothr me b/c I don't care what they think. They all made plsn for all the families to come to my house in case of major emergency (b/c of my stockpiles). I told them that unless they give me their coupons they are out of luck.

I didn't know that my MIL used to think I went overboard until dh lost is job and then was underemployed for 2 yrs. At one time I had 5 people in my family out of a job due to job cuts. It was crazy but that was when MIL realized just how important what I did was.

I think they are jelouse if they make a comment like that!I stock pile and have a pantry in my bedroom closet that I stick stuff on when the pantry is full in the kitchen(and that is all the time).I get good comments on doing it and people saying how they wish they could plan a menu out for a month and do some of the things I do.

My family will make rude comments right to me but it is stuff to put down your apperance or try to make them selfs look better.I hate it.I always just say in my head they are jelouse of the nice life you have cause they don't have it and it make me feel better and proud

My MIL would make "funny" comments about how I re-use things, etc, how I don't use the dryer to dry clothes, but use dryer racks. Well, I am not the one who declared 3 BK"s, don't have a pot to piss in and still paying for the house that was bought 30 yrs ago.

So, she can be "funny" all she wants, but we are the ones with money in the bank.

My dh's family always make comments about how organized and clean things are. They've gotten to the point where they call me the "containerator" because I try to keep everything organized in containers. Oh well..as long as I know where things are..who cares what anybody else thinks.

My guess is she is just bothered because you are doing it all better then she did.

I know snide remarks can sometimes get the best of anyone but just smile and say I really apprecaite the fact that you notice how hard I work to make your sons life better!

I live in a 200 unit apartment building ( no yard ). Everyday my MIL calls and reminds me that my sons little temper tantrums would not occur if he were to be out in the open and run ( all day ) " take him out to the park, take him outside, take him to the mall"....I do take my son out everyday, however if we stayed out entertaining him all of the time I would not be able to do the 1 million other things I have to do at home. She tries to help but it gets on my nerves.
