I'm sorry, but I don't understand the point in replying to a post if all you are going to say is, "Nope, never have that problem. Everyone supports me!" Seems a bit arrogant and unsupportive to me. JMHO
At any rate, MILs often say stuff like that because by you doing what you do, it puts up a mirror and reflects what they ARENT doing. If your MIL is supporting an adult child, then you guys being self-sufficient is just a constant reminder that what she is doing is unhealthy. A lot of women can't stand women who can actually do everything themselves! So they put them down instead, and try to make them feel like they are the wrong ones.
My neighbor's mom does that. My neighbor is very neat, and her mother lives in a home so dirty that they don't want to bring the grandchildren there for overnights. Her Mom constantly mocks her about her clean house. Time to grow up Mom!

The original question was: Do family memebers make rude comments to you...
about using coupons....stock piling bargains or being what they consider "over organized"??
This was an open question to everyone whether they do or not.... that is how most questions are asked here.

HA HA!! Same here! Although I do get comments about how much food is in my pantry and how, if some disaster ever happened, they would be coming here. Sorry, but I purposely have 3 months worth of food in my house at all times to feed my immediate family, not everyone else. They can all come over if they want to prepare like I am and bring over what they have stocked. I try to explain that I can save money by only buying what is on sale, since I already have "enough" of everything else. They just roll their eyes and say, "I don't know how you do it". Whatever. They could, if they wanted.
I cook a lot and my MIL NEVER cooks. She told me recently that they like to eat out and never like to eat at home...like they are better than us because they eat out? She has made comments about how much we cook at home and eat at home, but then she complains about how they don't have a lot of money. Ok, we don't have a ton of money, but I know we are saving a ton by eating at home. Plus, have you ever tried to take 3 kids, ages 4, 3 and 1 out to eat at a decent restaurant, let alone do it every day? Btw, they have enough money that my FIL is going to just "take a year off" of teaching, because he needs a break. He is a retired Navy commander.

Some do make jokes but I know it's not to hurt me. My MIL never keeps leftovers, she says they don't eat them and it just goes to waste. She knows I keep everything even if it's just a couple of bites, it's perfect for my 1 yr old. When we go to eat at her house she gives me all the leftovers from the meal. I consider I'm the winner in this situation (and she's a great cook!!)
My sister also makes fun of me because I know my prices and mostly only buy when on sale. But guess what? If I buy something she will also get some because she knows if I got some it's a good deal. So I'm not to hurt by her comments (on most days anyway!!).
I agree with what is said, do your thing and keep in mind that most people judge themselves through the comments they make to others. It's ofter envy in disguise.
Good luck to all with your in laws,

Obviously you are new here and don't know the dynamics and personality of our board. We are all welcome to post our responses and experiences to any post that we want to. We are supportive and friendly....and try to not be too critical of each other, usually. Just thought I'd clarify that for you since you are new.

To "know" Stacey is to KNOW that she is in no way arrogant or unsupportive...quite the opposite in fact!
