Well, before we painted out kitchen, it was "are you colorblind?" It was painted a bright lime green color when dh bought the house and he didn't care/nor had the time to paint, but as soon as I moved in, the color moved out. It's now a harvest gold color and decorated with French accents. Other than that, all of our friends are still immature for the most part and really only want to know what food is in the cabinets. (they are mostly 20-27 year old BOYS who have nothing better to do than raid our fridge lol...no hostility, promise...) I wish they had girlfriends or wives to keep them in check

I had someone pop over unexpectedly the other day and as we were chatting she was looking around and said to me, "How in the world do you keep your place SO clean with 3 kids home all the time and 1 on the way!?!?" lol! Sure made my day!

People always say how big our place looks... I think it is because it is decorated simply and we don't have a lot of furniture or other things cluttering it up.

Our friends and family are surprised to see so many "nice" things. Nice meaning expensive or unique. They say this because DH and I are both famous for being frugal, it is the topic of many jokes when we all get together. We do have some really nice things but everything we own was bought for a fraction of it's worth or retail value... many were free. We ae good at turning trash into treasure.

My friends always think my house (all 3 of our houses, actually, since we have been married) is a very "grown up house" LOL because it is decorated and we have a lot of nice artwork and antiques and pretty light fixtures, etc. We have a pretty house that looks "done" and most of our friends are still figuring out their decorating style and picking out sofas and stuff. My dh and I both have parents with beautiful homes and beautiful things and excellent taste and they both have moved (out of the houses they had lived in for 30 years and raised their children in to a more "empty nest" kind of place with no yard, etc.) since we got married and we got a lot of wonderful stuff from them that they didn't want anymore. We have furniture that we could never have afforded. We have always loved art and started buying it way back when we were in college, so we have some very special and personal things. Our houses all just come together quickly and nicely. We also love to garden and so people always comment on how nice our yard looks.
