Hi, I'm a new member here to MommySavers. My name is Melinda, I live in North Idaho (about 30 miles from the Canadian Border), I have a three year old daughter, a baby boy due in June and a wonderful husband! I have been reading with interest a lot of the money saving tips and stories and thought I would pass a proud moment of my own today!

We just bought a new house and needed bar stools for in the kitchen. Just this morning I received an ad from Pier 1 with beautiful bar stools, normally priced at $130.00, marked down to $100.00. As I needed two bar stools, at least, for our counter this was going to put us in the $200.00 range -- can you say, "Ouch!" But I was still tempted. Afterall the bamboo backing was expected to last for years to come. So I mentioned the bar stools to my husband who just kind of raised an eyebrow at me. As I was going to Spokane today, the closest place for any sort of shopping in our area, I told him that I would check them out!

On my drive over to Spokane I re-thought my choice of the bar stools and decided that before I went to Pier 1 I would check out the Goodwill in Spokane, just to say I had attempted all options ... long story short, I ran by Goodwill and sure enough found two nice looking bar stools for $15.00 combined! No, they not as nice as the Pier 1 with bamboo backs, but they will look right at home in my little kitchen and we'll be able to afford groceries for the next month!

I bought my barstools at goodwill 5 years ago. I paid $ 5 each and then bought a $5 jar of paint and the rest is histroy. Can I tell you how many compliments I've had over the years on my goodwill barstools?
