We have just moved into our new house, which is about half the size of our old house, and I have a ton of stuff currently crammed into my garage AND carport that needs to go. I do sell on eBay a little bit but I think my best bet is to have a yard sale, something that I have never done.

Does anyone have any tips or ideas of where to begin and what to do?

P.S. I'm also 31 weeks pregnant and I'm moving a little more slowly but I want it done before the baby arrives. It would be nice to bring him home from the hospital and be able to open the door in the carport area!

Thanks in advance for any ideas!

Mark everything - I know for me and my yard sale buddies if it isn't marked we won't ask.

Price to sell, most people come to yard sales looking for a bargain, if they can get it on clearance brand new they won't pay almost new prices for something used.

Put your big items out closer to the road to catch peoples eye, it will bring them in to see the rest if they think its worth stopping for

Tha's all I can think of at the moment - I hope that helps.

Well, 1st of all, for you, get someone to help you!!!

Then, make sure everything is clean and has a price. I always do an entire table of stuff the is .25 and another of things that are $1.00 each, and I make signs on my computer and hang them on the tables, I even offer 5 for $1.00 on the .25 stuff sometimes. If something is broken, make sure it is marked that way, and you might want to put batteries in some things to show that they work.(you can always take them out if you want--or--use the cheapo batteries from the dollar store)

Make sure you make signs to put in near the road, use big bold lettering so that people can read it, and if you put signs on telephone poles, make sure they are written clearly and then take them down after the sale!!(people WILL show up after your sale if you don't)

Be willing to dicker with your customers on prices, I even post a sign that say's "price too high, make me an offer" that way they know that you want to get rid of stuff!!! Someone might even come by at the end of they day and make an offer on all of your left over stuff!!

Good Luck!!!
