to justify keeping it?

I am having a garage sale and really want to simplify. I want to be brutal! How often would you have to use something to make you keep it around...taking up space.

I got rid of ALL the too small/someday clothes. All the extra sheets. All sorts of junk. Now I am down to the coffe pot I use once every 3 years, the glass jars I "might " use some day.....stuff like that.

What is the rule???

I don't know quite exactly the rule is. I think maybe if you haven't worn it or used it in the past 6 months or year that you need to get rid of it. But do I follow this? NO! I really need to declutter & have a garage sale also. I have clothes that I need to get rid of , but I kind of want to keep them so I have something to wear whenever I lose my weight. Sometimes dh & I can be pack rats about some things. Good luck!

I was just talking to my mom about this. We have some baby toys that each of my 3 boys only used a couple times.... I am tempted to hold onto them for the 4th baby but I just don't think it's worth it! I think they are great, worthwhile toys, but if they were only used a few times, I should really part with them.

There are so many things like that... it is HARD!!! I got brutal with my bookshelf the other day. I culled many books that I was holding onto (books on nursing...hello! I've nursed 3 kids successfully I think I know how to do it, and if I need a tip I can find one online!)

I've been going through the kids toys, clothes and just anything I can bear to part with. Some days I just want it ALL gone because I'm sick of keeping it all clean and organized. But I'm afraid if I get rid of too much, a situation will arise where I need it and have to go out and buy another! (This has happened....)

Be brutal.

When in doubt, get rid of it.

Live with a sense of abundance. You can always find it at another garage sale if you decide you should have kept it.
