Okay - now that we are interested in "simplifying" our lives, we should have a de-clutter challange. I know Fly lady does the 27 Fling boogie - which, I think, is getting rid of 27 items. Well we should challenge each other. Maybe you don't want to do 27 items and maybe you would rather de-clutter the tupperware cabinet (we ALL have on of those, right?) or junk drawer. So what will you de-clutter or go through that you have been putting off?

I like how Perfect4usr goes through things once, then twice and finally a third time. Great tip. Remember, you can't organize clutter (as Fly lady says).

Well, my goal is at the end of the month our church is having a rummage sale for our local food pantry. So, my goal is to go through and find AT LEAST 5 items every day until the end of the month so I can donate to the sale. I KNOW I can do this - just hitting my DSs rooms and my closets I can do this!

Game on!

Excellent! A challenge is just what I need to keep me going.

Ok- groan.... you are forcing me to declutter my desk and shelves. I have been organizing it all so neatly, and then, of course, because there is a lot of clutter, in a few days it's just a big mess again. I know I need to let go of stuff to stop that cycle. Thanks!

Thanks for posting this and putting it up to me

Now I have to do it,

the dredded wardrobes in my bedroom, I really need to declutter, accessories, that have passed their sell by date and can go into the charity bag, clothes that dont fit, and I dont wear, costume jewellery and silk scarves to be recycled .

ok Ill get started but its going to take me the day tomorrow (bank holiday so no work) to get ruthless and do a clear out.

If Im not back tomorrow send out the bedroom tidy police Im going to need encouragement on this one

I'm game! There are so many things that could use decluttering that I shy away from! Above the fridge is a good one! I want to refinish our hard wood floors when the kids go back to school and this will force me to look at things a different light! Should we post what we have decluttered??? I promise I'll only post each area once instead of three time since I go through things more than once. You know.... that is a huge time consumer, maybe my goal will be to declutter as much as possible the FIRST time. I'll see how it goes.

I'm game too! I really need this - BADLY!!!!! You don't even want to see my house. And my upstairs, which is my home "office" - well, you can hardly walk through it. And the business I run is really starting to pick up, so I NEED to clean out and declutter. So, this is great!!!!

To make it easier on me, and to give me a real chance at "success", I think I am going to tackly my master bathroom tomorrow. That will be doable, and perhaps will give me the confidence to continue to the next step!

Thanks - and here's to simplifying our lives!

I am game I was just thinking to that I need to do that is every room. You have inspired me I am headed to the bathroom right now to do 27-fling boogie. I am sooooo tired of the clutter. By the way I love the FlyLady too. I have been signed up for over a year and I need a refresher course. I am starting with Babysteps. I will let you how my fling went later.

See you after 27- fling!!!!!

Yeah! I'm glad you guys are taking the challenge! Make the challenge whatever it is YOU need. It if is 27 items - great. If it is in every room, go for it! Just think about it, and then report what you want to be held accountable for.

Mine primary goal is clothes - closets and dressers for both boys, me and DH. On top of that I want to do bathrooms - meds and assorted "junk" that I need to streamline or just get rid of. Then I want to hit the kitchen - my tupperware cabinet drives me nuts. Spice cabinet too. Then there are the "tools" I have 3 drawers of kitchen stuff and yet only use a few of the same pieces all the time. That seriously needs to be addressed. I plan to do one area every day for the rest of the month so I can make a great donation (of what is "saleable") for the Church rummage sale.

Even if you do it and don't report in - that is ok too. Just know that you can't organize clutter! Think how this will simplify your life!!

I DID IT!! But it turned into a 100-fling. Can you beleive I had that much crap in the bathroom closet!??!?!?!?! YIKES! I threw out trash and stuff I hadn't used in forever. It really feels great. ANd it didn't take very long!!! I am going back in there and organize a little more!! I post back later and let you know if I finished.

Talk with you soon!!

Looking at my desk this afternoon, I didn't know where to start. So I wound up getting a big cardboard box and putting everything from my desk top in it. Then I dusted my desk- it looks great! Seeing it like that makes it really easy to start tossing junk. I'm taking stuff out of the box and putting it back ONLY if it's something I know I really use or need to have.

Doing it backwards that way seems to make it easier, plus I can throw the box in a closet or up on a table to keep the kids from getting in it if I'm interrupted (or should I say when...). I think I"ll do the shelves the same way.
