Why have I never heard of these? I just looked at the link posted in the granite counter tops threads, and these counters look beautiful.

Does anyone have them? How do they hold up?

I saw these on This Old House on PBS one Saturday. They looked really nice & they showed how they made them, and made different colors. I think that they said that they hold up pretty well. I think that they would be really neat to have. I wonder how much they cost?

I saw them on "Living With Ed", the show about Ed Begley Jr. They had green ones put in and they were very nice looking. I would imagine they would hold up well... my parents had a thick glass-top dining table made years ago and it still looks beautiful. I wonder if the edges could chip though? Scratches would probably hide in the pattern. I was really interested in them after seeing that show but we won't need a kitchen "facelift" for a few years so I haven't looked into them.

I am sooo ecited about this. I have been searching for 2 yrs for the "perfect" countertop for my kitchen. I want to have an undermount sink, I want it to blend in with my yellow kitchen with blur trim and not clash with my cobalt glass decorating the windows and shelves. I found several counters with cobalt glass fragments in it - it also is made for undermount sinks...and the price is no more than the nicer counters I saw at Lowes that accomodated undermount sinks.

I have been saving for this for a long time, all I have to do is find someone that sells it and convince my DH to install it for me before his busy season starts!!

I just ripped a page out of last month's House Beautiful about these countertops and stuck it in my dream house file. I think they are great looking. I would love to know what the cost breaks down to also. We really need new countertops (we have white laminate that was installed in 1993 when our house was built and it is stained in places and just looks tired) but the rest of our kitchen looks really good. I think this would change the whole look and would be a great way to introduce some color into my black and white kitchen. I don't want to do the whole stainless/granite thing - I want something different!

So has anyone bought these and what the heck did they end up costing you?

The only price quote I found said they are in the $50-$75 per sq ft range. That is the same price for the premium ones at Lowes that accomodate the undermount sink.
