I don't know how much it helps, but it can't hurt I guess. Anyone else use this stuff?
I buy the Fit wash as well and use it on my non-organic fruits and veggies. I bought a big refill bottle so I can just keep filling it up. I really like the stuff - I've used it on tomatoes before and you can just see the *whatever it is* just pouring off it! :hurl:

Thanks so much Stormy. I am going to order them right now! This is such a great thread. I wish we could have a green section!!! I think there are so many things we could help each other with. I just reread that thread about chemicals in the baby wash and spent an HOUR on that website that someone gave a link for reading about how horrible all the things I use every day are for my family. I went around and checked labels on soap, sunscreen, cosmetics, detergent, etc. - even the stinking baby wipes! - and was literally feeling sick to my stomach as label after label had harmful ingredients in them. I think I have done a good job with the food that we eat over the last year but now I am ready to tackle some of these other issues. I am going on vacation tomorrow but when I get back, I am going to really make an effort to educate myself on how we can live without all this nonsense. It is so hard....

Does anyone have a recommedation for a good book I can take with me to the beach to get me started on my research? I need to know what products are SAFE.

After grocery shopping on Mon I was wondering about prices of organic and even healthier foods around the country, if they are the same everywhere or different depending on what part of the country you live. I'm in Western Pennsylvania and this is what I paid:
Stonyfield organic 2% milk, 1/2 gallon (I can't find gallons at my grocery store but I'm pretty sure I saw them at Whole Foods the one time I was there) $3.39
Organic Valley 1/2 & 1/2, quart $3.19-that was sticker shock for me!
Egglands Best eggs $2.29
Kashi blueberry and oat flake cereal $4.44
Cascadian Farm Purely O's 2/$5 on "sale"
organic Dole bananas .79/lb
organic Fuji apples $2.49/lb
Amy's frozen burrito's $2.29
Morningstar "chix" nuggets $3.33

Wow, cjemommy, your prices are better than mine. The Kashi cereal and the egglands best are about the same price, but my organic milk is 3.99 a half gallon (sometimes they have those coupon machines that spit out .50 coupons though and I make it spit out as many as it will do!). Last week the bananas were 1.19 lb. and the apples were 2.99 lb. and my Amys frozen things are ALWAYS 2.99 each (even the mac and cheese which I really think should be cheaper than the others).

I went to the bookstore today and tried to find a book that would guide me with some safe products / companies and I didn't have any luck. I did however find a magazine for my state listing all the organic farms and what they grow, and it lists the ones that have U-pick patches and it lists the festivals and farmers markets that they all participate in. Score!

Y'all have a great week and keep adding to this post so I can catch up on it after vacation.

If I had the money I would buy everything organic but one of the things that I buy on a regular basis is the Kashi bars and cereal. I also have tried organic pasta and sauce and it tastes awesome.

We do a lot of bison as well. We have a natural grocery here the is local to CO and sometimes they will have Bison on sale for 3.99 a pound! Whoo Hoo! I always stock up. Luckily we don't eat much red meat or it would be pricer.

I try to shop at a local smaller store. Some of their stuff is organic and someis not, but most is from the area. I's rather purchase organic but often subsitute for locally grown even if is grown "conventionally"

I buy organic, cage-free eggs. The way most egg places make their chickens "live" is deplorable.

I read in a magazine a few months ago about a mother wanting to go green. She did a lot of research and found a site that delivered organic food right to your doorstep. I am pretty sure it was for a 3 month supply of food, but it was cheaper than if you went to the store every week, or every other week to buy the same things. I cannot find that site anywhere. If any of you know or heard of this please let me know.

Thanks!!!!
