Have you ever taken a cloth bag with you to shop? I know many of you have, but I haven't. I take them all the time to the library to haul books, but have I ever taken one into Target with me? No.

Here's the challenge: if you've never shopped with cloth bags, try taking one bag on a shopping trip with you this week and see how you do. I plan to take one to Target with me this week- I'll report in.

I don't do that w/Target, but I take two insulated bags w/me to Trader Joes (they used to sell them, don't know if they still do) to bring home frozen goods. They are having raffles now if you bring in your own bags. I expect nothing, but it's hot here, and this helps protect my frozen foods.

I really need to do this. I get fed up with the amount of grocery bags I bring home. I do not need a grocery bag for every single item! I think I have a couple cloth bags, I will try keeping them in the car.

also, I never remember to tag my bags to the store to recycle. I finally threw them all in the car so I'd remember, and when I took the recycling today, they took my bags too. yay!

I've done this a few times, but I do need to try harder! Maybe it will help my spending b/c you can only get so much in them! I will try to report back on my next adventure!

I've been trying to start doing this too. I've started with trip to places where I get small amounts and just put them in my purse after checking out instead of getting a plastic bag. My next step is to do it for grocery shopping...but what do you do if you buy more than what fits into your cloth bag? Bring 5 bags with you? That logistic is what has been holding me back a bit.

I love my cloth shopping bags! They're big, they're comfortable on my shoulder, and I feel good about using them. The only problem is I often forget them! I'm trying to get better.

Better yet I walk to my grocery store, with the stroller and just fill up the basket underneth. It limits my spending because I don't buy the wants, I get exercise and even though I still take my groceries bagged in plastic I have found that I am good at reuseing them.

I always take them to the grocery store. But last week for the first time, I took them to the mall. When I said, "I've got a bag." I thought the sales people would give me strange looks but most of them said, "Cool." or "Great. I should do that more." I was surprised at how good it felt and the positive reinforcement I got.

Well- here's how I did...

I'm in Target with a whole list of items I need when my cell phone rings- can my house be shown in 20 minutes? (my house is for sale). NO! I could hardly get out the door this morning with the kids- one of those days- and the house was SO not in "show condition" when we left. So I said: Give me an hour.

We race through Target- the cats have to have food- and I get to the check out and forget all about my cloth bags while trying to pay as quickly as possible. Race home- clean up- hustle the kids back into the car- leave... then think: dang! I did not use my cloth bags. The duh- I didn't even bring them with me to the store. Frazzled? Oh, yeah.
