This is just for fun... but also I think could be helpful. I always want to be put on the "do not call" list for phone solicitors, and that got me thinking about other things that I want to put on my "do not " list... stuff I have too much of, stuff I'm no longer interested in, etc. Thinking of this list is helping me target areas I need to work on.

Now, this is just my list- nothing against any of the stuff on here- just not what I need at this point in my life:

scented candles- even unlit my kids are attracted like moths to them
anything cross stitched
scrapbook supplies- I could make a hundred scrapbooks with what I already have
baskets
baby blankets
magazines- drowning in them- help!!!
useless (to me) freebies... no more paint sticks, paper fans, scary vitamin supplements, infomercial type leaflets, etc
lotions, scented soaps
wool sweaters, LOL

I'm sure I could think of a lot more! I wonder if I could mail this list out to my relatives...

I know how you feel. There are tons of things I don't want even one more of. If you want to get rid of some of that stuff, try Freecycle (www.freecycle.org). It's very cleansing to the soul.

Freecycle is great, isn't it?

We had a big purging of "junk" this summer a lot of the offenders were...

Don't need/want:
More kitchen gadgets & appliances
Gifts I felt guilty about letting go of
Extra kids' clothes (how many outfits do they really need?!)
Kids' toys that don't get played with

For future gifts, I'm thinking consumable products is the way to go. For my kids: passes to things like the zoo, museums, movies, etc. They only play with 20% of the toys they have anyway. Crazy to think of the money wasted.

My don't want list:

Any statue/figurine from Wal-Mart (why doesn't my mother understand this?)

Anything made of poly-resin

Anything from Petters Warehouse--housewares--mirror sets, etc.

Anything from a store with the name "bargain" or "scratch & dent"

Stupid toys that make a lot of noise or take up a lot of space and break easily

Dollar store toys (other than dinosaurs or toys that are only one piece)

Orange and yellow clothing (bright)--you know, the kind of "deals" you can get for 90% off because nobody will be caught dead wearing them?

Oh yeah, my mom is guilty of buying things for us exclusively from this list.

I am telling everyone for Christmas this year to just get us stuff that we can use---spaghetti noodles, cream of musheroom soup (man, it's expensive), etc. now that would be money well spent!

LOL you and me girl, we're long-lost sisters.. My mother does the SAME EXACT THING.. And my sister is JUST as guilty! Though she gets me the knick-knacks that are like my favorite color or she knows I'll like but I have no space for.. DH & I got board games for the past 3 years in a row from my parents for Christmas.. and they know we don't play them at all. But last year I got the same boardgame that I got the year before! LOL My mom was like "Oh, I thought you said you needed another one because you outplayed the one I gave you!" and I was like "Um NO I said we don't need another boardgame because we don't play the ones you gave us!" And she thinks that I have selective hearing! LOL The excuses are silly: First it was not giving them a list, then it was giving them one that wasn't specific enough, then the next one was TOO specific.. So, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em right? I bet y'all can guess what they're getting for Christmas from us -- the boardgames they gave us! -- including both "The Boardgame Trio" games! LOL *sigh* they'll never get the point though..
