I wish I could be more anal about clearing my clutter. I feel like the walls are caving in on me sometimes!

Well I have so many....but the worst is the same as you Kim...PAPER!!! Of all sorts. Stacks of newspapers, stacks of mail, stacks of magazines (we get a zillion and God forbid I throw any of them away), tons of kids papers from school/sports team, books I'm swapping...you name it. If it's paper it's out of control at my house.

But we also have the clean, folded but "waiting to be put away" clutter and the "kick the shoes off" clutter that others mentioned too. Yikes...my dream is to some day control the clutter monster but I'm a long way from there yet.

People not putting their things away: shoes, briefcases, keys, stuff out of their pockets, coming home from shopping and just dumping it wherever for me to put away.

TV stand in my bedroom. Dh empties his pockets on it - handfuls of receipts, business cards, slips of paper with lists and phone numbers, nuts bolts wire connectors, tools, etc.... whatever he can fit in his pockets. None of it is trash but none of it ever leaves the stand unless I sort through it and put it away.

3) The top of our dresser
4) My magazine rack.

Latest Blog Entry: Our recent "Field Trip"
Blog Entries: 47
DH's pile of things he doesn't know what to do with and wants me to tend to - professional mags, owner manuals, etc.

School work - Homeschooling three kids with a toddler makes it hard to find a place to put everything so that it accessible to us but not to her.

My "in" box - all those things that need filed, payed, tended to - I am treasurer for our church and another non-profit group. All these things add up from time to time.

4H projects - Right now we are in the middle of completing 34 projects. We have stuff stacked everywhere - out of DD's reach, waiting for some little tidbit to complete, or projects in progress. I can't wait for the fair to be over!

Fishing gear - DH and all three boys have tackle and supplies scattered all over the garage. They usually keep it pretty neat, but, lately, they've spent a lot of time fishing and changing their line/bait/etc. The younger ones aren't great at putting things back in their place.

If I'm feeling well, I do a pretty good job keeping up on things. But, if I'm not feeling well or having a lazy day, it doesn't take long for chaos to present itself.

Hi Kim...(and all others):
For those of you who subscribe to your local newspaper and have a garden, place several sheets of it down around your plants and water down thoroughly to hold down the weeds. For added insurance against weeds here (and for esthetic reasons), also add a couple of inches of bark mulch over the papers. Both are biodegradable and added compost to your soil.
If you have a shredder and mail a lot of packages, especially around Christmas and other holidays, birthdays, mail-order, etc., you can shred up your paper and use it for damage control for your packaged gifts.
Then, there's the good old bird cage (and pet rat cage) covering.
Don't forget to clip your favorite coupons, recipes and wanted articles before discarding the rest of it.
God bless...

Mary M.
