I was noticing all the newspapers my dh gets and has laying around... ARGH!!! I hate them. They are one of the biggest sources of clutter in our home. I'm not totally in the clear either; I get a lot of magazines. I tripped over two bouncy balls and a squirt gun on my way to the computer. My top three are:

1. Newspapers
2. Magazines
3. Toys

Our main clutter culprit is toys. Although I did just do a super clean of them a few weeks ago. I went thru all the toy boxes (yes there is more than one!) and threw out two lawn size garbage bags of junk. There was so many toys that were broken, pieces missing, etc. Plus all the Mcdonald toys! I swear just those filled up a garbage bag by themselves. Now all the toys that they still have fit in the toy boxes.
Other culprits are magazines, mainly my magazines. I have cooking magazines scattered all over the place. it is because when i want to figure out a meal for the next day or so, i grab one of them and sit down where ever there is not a child in my way. It never fails I get interupted and the magazine just stays where it is. I need to get all my cook books and cooking magazines under control. i have them on top of the fridge now, but that is not working. We dont have a book shelf. I will have to do some thinking and see what I can come up with for storing them so they are out of the way but still easy to get too.

1) Paper - I need to handle it right away or forget it!
2) Magazines
3) Stuff I don't know what to do with.... I am a perfectionist and so sometimes I get a pile of things that I cannot find the "perfect" spot for so they just become a cluttered hot spot until I decide I've had enough and get my husband's help. Now I at least have this pile limited to a decorative basket and when it gets full he helps me make quick (if not perfect) decisions....
4) Until recently I had a huge pile of stuff for a garage sale - now I have decided that I will GIVE it away.

It's definately toys for us. I spend a ton of time just picking up toys...and when the parts get scattered, it's like a treasure hunt to find them. We've worked hard to used shelves, bins, and for everything to have it's place, but still...kids will be kids...toys get everywhere! Oh...yes, and those bigger little baby items like the excersaucer, swing...those take up sooo much room and make me feel like the rooms are cluttered. They are just so helpful to have!

My main clutter problems would be clothing. We all are guilty of having too much clothing most of which is purchased at thrift stores so it didn't cost alot money wise but is costing alot in space. I hope within the next few weeks to go thru all of it and get rid of anything we don't love. Also figure out what the boys really need when it comes to school clothes. I'm hoping just shoes and underclothes. Also I love decorating and I do have too much decor.

Mine trouble spot is the kitchen. It doesn't really have a place for anyone's coat or shoes. So everyone just kicks their shoes off where we walk through and right in front of the washing machine and then they put their coats on the back of the counter stools. After that, they usually plop something on the counter and walk away and leave it for the maid to pick it up. Did I mention I'm feeling like everyone's maid lately?
