In college I ate Totinoes Pizza alot. Can't eat it now to save my life. We were broke and ran out of toilet paper so we took an extra roll from the one of the buildings on campus. My roommate replaced it with a Charmin roll when payday rolled around.

I'll admit it too--I've taken extra condiments from different restaurants as well in college. (ketchup packets, plastic spoons, etc).

I've done this as well, the worst thing ever.

I also used to work promotion jobs and would have a few 6 packs of soda left over from the program, would go and return that for cash in order to fill my gas tank. How bad is that, returning free soda that I didn't pay for... that was the worst by far.

My husband and I just got married. We were broke after paying for our wedding, but wouldn't have changed a thing. One night I was so proud of myself finding chicken thighs on sale for 19 cents a pound. I boasted to him about this great find and what a good meal it will be. It was horrible!!!! We still laugh at it every anniversary!! (24 years later!!):

I have had to return things to get money to buy milk or diapers. But what made me feel the worst was takeing money from my kids piggy bank.

My parents use to travel a lot and I would go to there house to do laundry so I didnt use my electricity. I would raid her cabenits while I was there and take her toilet paper. She never said anything but I wonder if they noticed.

I have done those exact things also. I would take change from my daughter's piggy bank to the bank to cash it in and buy milk and bread to tide us over till payday, and run over to mom and dad's to take a roll of toilet paper or a can of tomato soup, praying that they wouldn't notice... then my dad would come over with bags of groceries because he felt bad for us. Now that we are doing better financially I feel like we've paid our debts back. I slip quarters into my kid's banks and invite mom and dad over for dinner every once in a while. I don't know what we would have done without "fudging" it through with borrowed food and money.

Boy, this thread makes me feel really thankful and shows me how far we've come.

My sister and I still laugh about this to this day!

We had just moved to Florida, into our first apt. together, it was Halloween, we were flat broke, and we'd been eating bread/toast, Ramen noodles, and potatoes (fixed 100 different ways) for a week.

When Trick-or-Treaters came around, we felt bad that we didn't have any candy to hand out, and we felt bad just ignoring the doorbell, so my sister made french fries and toast...and yes, HANDED THESE OUT TO THE KIDS! It was both embarassing and funny at the same time. Wonder what those parents thought when their kids dumped out their bags! Oh, to be so young and silly again!!
