I've been wearing contacts since I was in the 5th grade (I refused to get glasses, so I started out with contacts). I started out wearing regular soft lenses, and now wear disposables (Acuvue II). I think that they're really easy, and can't imagine having to wear my glasses every day. I have a problem with things like glasses and headbands, though -- they tend to give me really bad headaches after wearing them for more than an hour or two.

No I don't think they make life simple at all. In fact they are likely more trouble but I LOVE them. I hate wearing glasses, they slip, are uncomfortable and I don't like them.

I will take the little bit of hassle that comes with my contacts no contest! Of course I would love lasik surgery and not have to deal with either of them!

Well...I find them easier. I'm VERY nearsighted, so even with 'thin' lenses, I can't get glasses that aren't thick, heavy and hard to wear. I do have a pair that I use at night for reading, and they're fine for that, but to walk around in 'real life', they hurt my nose, my ears, press against my head, give me headaches because I'm not used to them for longtime wear etc

I wasn't able to wear disposables for the looooongest time but last year, I finally could get my correction and I LOVE THEM! I was wearing a semi-rigid lens before, and I took them out each night, no biggie, but I used them for 6 months or so and they were very expensive. So now, to be able to wear disposables is like a dream vacation! I love them!

That's pretty much how I feel- I've worn glasses forever, and I'm so used to them they don't bother me in the slightest. I hated having to touch my eye to put the lenses in, and then fooling with the little holders and cleaning them. They were just never comfortable for me.

Plus, I think glasses are kind of fun. There are a million styles- even the totally rimless frames out now, which makes the glasses practically invisible. And now there are "wrap-around" sunglasses that fit right over regular glasses and are very comfortable.

I wonder why glasses can affect self esteem so much? For me, I'm already not a supermodel, so it doesn't matter much. The only down side- in pictures, the flash will bounce off my lenses, so I usually do have to take them off for that.

I'm mildly nearsighted - just enough so I need vision correction to drive. Most of the time I walk around the house without any vision correction. Sometimes hubby or DD will ask me to look at something across the room and I tell them I can't because I don't have my contacts in.

Does NOT wearing my contacts make my life simpler? Yes! My house looks a whole lot cleaner (to me) when I'm not wearing contacts or glasses - tee hee!

I wear disposable contacts. When they are fitted correctly, I can't even feel them in my eyes - and I'm pretty hinky about anything touching my eyes.

My sister works in quality assurance for a large contact lense supply company and she refuses to wear contacts now. She says she has seen too many problems that can happen to people when their contact lense supplies go wrong (blindness, for instance). Thankfully I haven't looked at the gory pictures that she has seen so I still risk it.

And my husband has had Lasik. He wore glasses from a very young age and couldn't tolerate contacts. He loves the change. Personally, I would never go that route - the whole someone touching my eyes again. I KNOW I couldn't hold my eyeball still for the few seconds that are required. However, he is still has to carry around reading glasses.

So that's where I'm at. Glasses are easy because I can take them off instead of search for reading glasses everytime I want to see something up close or read. On the otherhand, contacts are wonderful for activities like going to the swimming pool or some other sport. Glasses help me see when my eyes are attacked by my chronic inflammatory disease (a common problem with the disease I have, unfortunately). There are times when I simply can't wear the contacts. But contacts DO help me see better than glasses.

Conclusion: I'll continue to use both.

Put my contacts away 17 years ago & never looked back. The key is glasses you like. Look for glasses by "silhouettes". They are frameless & nearly invisible on you. They have tiny titanium wires that drill right into the glass, and are the lightest things. You can barely even feel them on you, and if you pick them up, you'll be shocked at how light they are. I LOVE my glasses. My sisters & I all have them. They are nearly invisible in photos. I'd never bother/waste time w/ contacts again. Yes, they do cost around $400, but if you have something front & center on your face, you should really like them. And they last years.

Simpler for me, because I feel ugly in my glasses! I buy a six month supply of two-week lenses, but wear each lens until it gets uncomfortable. So, that six month supply lasts at least a year - if at my yearly exam, my rx is the same, I don't even buy new lenses then - I can use a six-month supply for two years with 0 problems! I just use a good solution daily and a protein remover once a week. I wear glasses only at night, after washing up, and in the morning, before washing up for the day. They go in or out in only a few seconds - no hassle.

I have worn contacts for over twenty years. I currently wear disposable ones. I wear my glasses only at night or when my eyes are too tired. I just don't feel I can see as well with my glasses. I have been very lucky to not have too many problems with my contacts.
