I remember as a kid how we used to play on the floor while my mom sewed at her sewing desk. My kids are going to remember me sitting at my computer desk.
For some reason this is bothering me. At least my mom had curtains, clothing, etc to show for her time. I can say I created a splendid "me" at meez.com that I was never able to incorporate into my avatar. Or I checked out 27 books on line at the library.
I love my computer time, but, hmm... maybe it's time to cut back and use my time more- productively.

I agree. I feel that I am on the computer a little too much. I try to limit it to when my daughter is sleeping. I used to have a MySpace and I quit it because I was on even more. I know what you mean about the guilt.

Here lately I haven't spent my time very well at all. Time seems to be flying by and nothing is getting done. I have good days where I am busy all day and get a lot done then days where I seem to sit around and get absolutely nothing done.
I have a HUGE list of things that need to be done before the baby gets here but I can't seem to get any of it done. Now I've gotten the list out and I HAVE to do 2 things on it everyday, or 1 if its a big one.
Keeping a schedule, writing things down, having a list to check off, and keeping up a routine are the only ways I will stay motivated.

I know exactly what you mean. They will remember the back of my head facing the laptop.
Sometimes I turn it off so that I can get stuff done.

I absolutely agree. A while back, my DH snapped a picture of my son talking to me, and I was at the computer, and it broke my heart! Since then, I have been super careful about the computer when ds is home. I will take "Mommy breaks" or go on if he is playing alone in his room or napping. Right now, he is not home.

Yes, this is an issue of mine and I did cut back awhile ago. Both my husband and I are very bad at this.
And it doesn't help that some of my work is done on the computer either. I can tell the difference but I know my daughter can't. I need to fix that.

Yes, you are right, BUT this is one of my ONLY real vices....and my only real escape. I struggled for a long time in finding a ME admist being a mommy (maid, chef, driver, etc...all that comes with being a mommy!)....and this gives me something that is MINE. I do have a lot of guilt, and I am trying to get better at doing this only when the kids are asleep or gone (they are all still in bed or already on the way to school right now!).

With my dh being home only on the weekends right now, it's hard for me to limit my computer time to only when the kids are asleep. I keep in touch with dh through the day by computer, as well as do other things. The kids are usually in the room playing while I'm on line- right now they have out the leggos. Still, I do find myself drifting into saying "just a minute...." repeatedly. I have to work on that.

This is my problem all together. I am not very productive when I am at home at all really, and my house/lawn shows it. With being gone over 10 hours during the waking hours of the day, by the time I get home I am just tired and worn out and all I want to do is rest or watch tv. I always make excuses as to why it looks the way it does, but really, it's just because I don't do it.. Like my lawn and around my house.. the weeds are awful.
I can sit at my desk during the day and think of a million things I want to do when I get home and then think of about 10 things that I really need to do. When I get home, I probably do about 2 of those things.
I need help and motivation!!
