I need one for my glass kitchen table. I used 1/2 vinegar and 1/2 water and it worked terribly. I need a natural one my ds can use that is good for the environment. Thanks!

This one is my favorite that I have tried:

1/4 cup vinegar
1 Tablespoon cornstarch
2 cups warm water

Put it all in a spray bottle. Shake well each time before you use it. I also put a couple drops of essential oil for aromatherapy. I buy a stack of microfiber cloths in the automotive section at walmart for under $5. I use these instead of paper towels and they work great. I also use a dry erase board eraser to remove streaks. Works like a charm - hope you like it. It's so great b/c my 4 yr old actually thinks it's great to clean windows - I say let him do it - plus no nasty chems to worry about. Let me know how you like it!

What does the cornstarch do for the mixture? Does it dissolve, so there is none on the window?

You have some great ideas!

Microfiber cloths!
They are the BEST at cleaning glass. Just get them slightly damp with water and they clean without streaking and all you use is plain old water!

My DH's cousin's DH owns a window cleaning company and does very well if I say so myself and all he uses is alittle Dawn soap and water and a good squiggy (sp?) I know it must work since some of his clients he has had for years. Plus he doesn't advertise all his business comes by word of mouth. And he stays busy. Enough that they are going to build a new home on his income alone..she is a SAHM.

Sorry for the late reply Vioburn and thank you for the compliment! I really don't know what the cornstarch does for windows. However, when you shake it up and spray it on the window, the liquid is not completely clear however. I don't find a residue though! Hope you all are having a great night!

Honestly, I'm a little skeptical - but I've heard you can use hand sanitizer on glass!!(WARNING: May cause damage to wood and plastic!!) I'm not real sure how environmentally friendly that would be, though. And I'm not sure how old your ds is either, so I don't know if you'd trust him alone with it.

I've always heard that vinegar and water was the most effective, environmentally-friendly, and cost-efficiant window or glass cleaner - but I've never heard of adding corn starch. Sounds like I'm going to have to try that!! (Thanks for the tip!!)

In my bathroom, the only thing I use on the mirror is a wet sponge. In fact, I use that fish-shaped sponge I got as a freebie from Dawn!!
(Edited to add: That this sponge leaves NO STREAKS whatsoever!)

I should have remembered to add that my concoction doesn't work great on mirrors, for some reason. Just vinegar/water works better on mirrors but glass shines like crazy!!
