For the toilet I use 1/2 cup baking soda let set 10 min add 1/4 cut vinegar and scrub.

Bath tub scrub in plastic air tight container- baking soda essential oils and liquid dish soap. Mix untill in past form. If it dries out from time to time just add some water or vinegar.

Kitchen counters/table and bathroom sink- in spray bottle water vinegar and liquid dish soap. I keep a shaker of baking soda for things that are stuck on good.

For my smooth top I spray with kitchen mixm then sprinkle baking soda and salt on and let sit for few min. Use sponge to scrub off and wipe clean.

I also use baking soda in the washer to help with odors and Vinegar as a fabric softner!

I found a couple of websites I refer to for these kinds of cleaners. My girls are both allergic to most chemical cleaners so I use these. Work just as well if not better, cost less and leave no chemicals behind.
The sites are : hillbillyhousewife.com and tipnuts.com.

Thanks so much for the two web sites NYnotNYC. I registered with both to get their e-newsletters. I have found both sites to be helpful. I like to explore the different ideas that a lot of these web sites offer.

I use vinegar for almost all my kitchen and bathroom cleaning.

I use Murphy's Oil Soap on the wood floors -I haven't found anything I can mix up myself that works as well.

Not so sure how "green" ammonia is, but I feel better using this cleaner.
In airtight container mix: 1/3 cup detergent (dish soap), 1 tbsp ammonia, and 2/3 cup water. Let gold and precious stones soak for 5-10 minutes, then rinse. You can use a soft toothbrush on the underside for additional cleaning. Not recommended for pearls, opals, turquoise, synthetic or other "soft stones." Seal and re-use!

Also, if you put some vinegar in with Dawn soap and water when washing windows, it cuts down on suds, helps with streaks, and seems to dry a little faster.

I have been using products that are consentrated that are green. I am saving money & helping the environment. They are great for my son with allergies as well. They are not homemade but they have been around for 50yrs. Basic H & G, & At Ease are from Shaklee. If anyone is intesrested in more info I would be happy to let you know what they can do.

I was just reading some of the old posts. You guys have great ideas.
I was a contractor for the Environmental Protection Agency for awhile before i had my two little ones & while I was there I was in the graphics department & did a slide show for a scientist that was just finding out how bad toxins are in the cleaning products we use in our homes. Once I switched to the Basic H, G & at ease things have been better in our home. I save lots of money because of the concentration of the products & there are no more headaches for me while cleaning. The other thing I saw was the animal issue about deorderizing cats box. I use all these products around my animals & they are perfectly safe. If anyone would like more info with more products I can get you some.

When I waitressed we used salt to clean the coffee pots....... we would add 1-2 T. of salt, sqeeze in a fourth of a lemon and throw the lemon into the pot and add about a cup of crushed ice to the glass pot. Gently shake, empty and rinse and the pots were very clean and shiny!

I love vinegar...I use it in the dishwasher, window cleaner, carpet cleaner, etc. I have however read that vinegar can break down grout so I do not use it daily on my tile (my daily shower spray is made instead with 2 parts water/1 part rubbing alcohol which is great for killing mold).
