I love my homemade laundry soap but arthritus can make grating the soap a nightmare. I put the soap in a quart container and put enough water it cover the soap completely. Everyday day for about 3 weeks I open the container. When it starts to break down I stir it completely until it get to be the consistency of pudding. Then I put it in the pot and finsih the process. I have started making my own laundry soap using a similar recipe found on Simple Dollar.com. I also have been using Vinegar to clean. Under Saving Money Forum, Household Cleaners there are a couple of website addresses with long list of different cleaners and uses for Vinegar. The kids say the house smells like Easter Eggs after I clean but the smell soon goes away.

General Cleaner

¼ cup 5% vinegar

2 teaspoons basic liquid soap

1 ½ tablespoons lemon juice

¾ cup warm water

I put the general cleaner in a spray bottle and use it for kitchen countertop surfaces, bathroom counter top surface and as a general cleaner. If you want it to smell a bit better and have a few bucks to spare, you can add a few drops (just a few) of an essential oil of your choosing. I personally like orange J

Bathroom Cleaner

1 tablespoon baking soda

2 tablespoons General Cleaner

I use this for the bathroom sink, toilet and tub to scrub and clean.

I am a recent converter also, I just got a book the other day called "Homemade, by Readers Digest," it has all kinds of natural recipes, in the Around the house chapter. Good Book. They have a Tough Multipurpose Cleaner recipe:
\
1 1/2 pints water
1/3 cup rubbing alcohol
1 tespoon clear household ammonia
1 teas mild dishwashing liquid
1/2 teas lemon juice
1 32 oz spray bottle

Combine ingredients and shake well, use on couthertos, kitchen appliances and fixtures, and tile or painted surfaces.

I haven't tried it yet cause right now I have a bottle of vinegar and water that I have to use up.

What is your recipe? I have major problems with the drain in my shower plugging up. I've used Draino, but I would love to use something more natural and less expensive.

I saw someone listed honey as a face cleanser? Do you just smear it on, then rinse?
Thanks for all the other recipes...they are great and I have used some of them and they work great!
