We have 6 of those solar-powered lamps that we use for camping, which are great...BUT...my absolute pride and joy is my "5-in-1 Emergency Radio & Spotlight" we bought from Sharper Image a few years ago!! I absolutely LOVE it!! It's got a Radio, Spotlight, Digital Clock (with alarm, and SNOOZE!!), Siren, and Flashing-Light feature, and it can run on batteries, be hand-cranked for power, or...it's got a flip-up solar panel which keeps it charged at all times!! I just set it in the window sometimes, with the solar panel facing the sun, and let the sun charge it for FREE! LOVE THAT!!

I think we paid about $50 for ours, but I'm sure it's much cheaper now. I don't know...I just LOVE gadgets like this!! And it came in particularly handy for us one time when we were under a tornado warning. Even when the electricity died, we were still able to hear the weather reports, have a light source, and knew what time it was!!

Here's what mine looks like. Same color too...

How about you? Do you own anything solar-powered??

I have a light up frog and a plant looking lights that sit up in my front yard. I love them and hope to add more -- though they're about to be taken down pretty soon with fall starting to settle in.

We have lots of solar powered lights. We have them on our playset in the back yard (DH is testing them for a year) we also have solar power Christmas lights. The C-Mas lights are not on the market yet, DH is testing those as well. We haven't gotten to use them yet- but I can't wait to this winter! They plug into a solar pannel instead of a plug in. The solar pannel is small and it's supposed to have enough juice to light up 20 strings of lights. We're excited to use it. There are a few different sizes in the solar panels, the smaller ones will light up up to 5 strings- we'll use those out on the trees- we'll be excited not to have cords running all over the yard this christmas
We have a small soar pannel on top of our home that sends power into our home. We save A LOT on our electric bill just with a small solar pannel! It is another one of DH's tester things- it's working really well- we save over $50 a month!
We have solar camping lights that we got for our wedding. We haven't used those in a while.

Wow, you've got a lot of solar power going on. I'd love to find one of those solar Christmas light things when they come on the market...will you let us know?

And, yum! Your avatar is nice to look at! Who IS that?

My avatar is Paul Walker...hot isn't he. Yeah, everyone we've told about these solar power christmas lights is excited about getting them. I don't know when they'll be on the market, this is the first year that DH and his company is doing testing on them. We have an orange string up on the deck for fall/halloween but they have to be tested through a "harsh winter" before they are put on the market with DH's company. I don't think any other companies sell them yet- I know that DH has a "patent" on the desogn, so none of the sets that he's designed can be "reproduced" by other companies...I can't wait until they get on the market! I can't believe someone didn't think of it a long time ago!
